i just found this article and read it- i did expect worse but he does come across as pissy because he didn't get to do the scoop himself.
obviously, from comments here and from the article people knew but didn't know for sure. it's still impressive to me- 20 years ago the rumors would have done him in, so i do think there is some progress.

There are a lot of openly gay athletes already (mostly female) and I haven't seen any stories about issues in the locker room/showers.

That's the telling of the death of the Republic correct? The Roman Republic died in 27 BC. Rome then hit cruise control with Pax Romana after that and did extremely well for another 150 years. Christianity was happening under its nose but not a part of Rome for 2 to 3 more centuries. So to think it was doing great, adopted Christianity and then fell, is... a perplexing theory to adopt.
The splitting of the Empire wasn't until 285, the Edict of Milan wasn't until 313, the Western Empire fell in 485, the Eastern Empire, which was home to the Eastern Orthodox Church, lived on and you could argue it did until 9th century of 15th century, whatever you like.
Think of it this way, if the U.S. got too big and too in debt and then weak, it'd decline. If to save it you split it in half, it's likely that one side would fall before the other. Most likely, California would be the open borders side and fall first to invaders. When it falls, it takes Silicon Valley with it, we're plunged into the dark ages. Then say the East is run by the state of Alabama and Southern Baptists, it lives on for 1000 years. Hard to say the U.S. fell because San Fransisco loves gays, and it's hard to say the nation fell because of Christianity.
