Believe what you want, but we REALLY improved our chances for Channing Ward who chose not to attend the Sr. Camp at Ole Miss today.
If we can bring in Quay Evans and Channing Ward we will have 2 of the best DL in the nation. I think they are both top 100 prospects.
Not to Mention that Quay doesn't even have LSU in his top 5. (State, Alabama, Ole Miss, USC, and Oregon)
Ward mentioned LSU but said they are too far away. I think he is a MSU/OM battle to the end, but I like our chances.

Not because he had a choice.. He said he couldn't find a ride.

Tobias Singleton said the same thing last summer as to why he didn't go to Mississippi State's camp.
If he really wanted to go he could have found a ride. Some of the guys who were in Starkville were in Oxford today.

There is still a lot of time left in this recruiting season, but you have to be arrogant or ignorant to think that MSU is not a major player for Ward, Evans, and even Nick James now (qualifying him is a different story).
First, Ward could have very easily have found a ride to Oxford. I am sure someone would have gladly picked him up in Aberdeen on their way to Oxford. Ward has publicly talked about how much his Mom's opinion means to him in this process. Of course, his mom is currently enrolled and studying at MSU. He stated in a recent interview that it would mean a lot to him to be able to go to the same school as his mom. This could be recruit speak, but I am pretty sure it is an MSU/TSUN fight (MSU with a slight lead).
Evans is about 95% certain to State at this moment. There would have to be serious stuff to go down for that to change. I don't need to go into detail about what that would have to be.
I don't want to flame, but there are some know-it-all elitists on this site. MSU might not have even close to the same type of history as other SEC teams, but neither does a team like South Carolina. After some mighty big struggles, USCe is sitting on the verge of unparalleled success in recruiting and on the field. I cannot say if State will reach those levels, but I have confidence that Mullen and the boys are going to make life miserable for the rest of the conference.

what's the deal w/ Cowan?
what's the deal w/ Cowan?

Cowan has not announced anything as of yet. His commit could come any day now. Most people are saying he is verbally committing to Arky. However, there is going to be a lot of push back from his family and friends.

Everybody on the MSU boards assumed he was committing to Arkansas today. I'm guessing he is getting family pressure to go to State

only if you had unrealistic expectations...was a good camp for us- UPig got 2 commits at their camp I believe
Croom is going to announce his commit in a week or so between us and Tenn- he is a 60/40 lean toward us right now- if we dont get his commit, then it you can be disappointed

That plans on passing more this season with an experienced WR corp. The past two years most of our WRs have been FR and Sophs, and now they are experienced, as well as Relf who has improved his passing. Relf actually probably has the weakest arm of our 4 scholarship qbs.

funny how he found a ride to Starkville

I was just expecting a couple more players to commit, which is what Rosebowl and Paul were predicting.
As for Croom, Im not getting my hopes up too high for a highly rated out of state recruit. If we get him I will be very happy.

Sure is. The fact that he rode with his mom to state but couldnt find a ride to Ole Miss kinda tells me that he wasn't/isnt that interested in the Black Bears.

Whuuuuuuuuuuuuuut???????
Relf has a better arm than Russell or Farvuh could ever hope for- Relf can throw the ball 75 yards
what the hell Bundy?

@Sugatowng- I actually agree with you about Cowan. The kid should be able to go where he wants to go. I have no beef with that as long as its legit, which I believe is the case with Arky. We should be ashamed for not taking his commit earlier this year.
As for the camp being disappointment, I would have to say that assessment is dead wrong. For all present, the event was the best camp ever conducted at MSU. It was definitely the most high school talent ever assembled on campus. Plus, we made real head way with big recruits like Ward, Brown, and James and verified what we previously thought about guys like WR Fred Brown. The bulk of our big targets are still a ways away from deciding. We didn't knock out a ton of commits, but we are making big strides.
There are no shortcuts to the top of the mountain.

Kinda hard to commit when you've been playing 7 on 7 in Hoover.

If his mom is on board as he says, it's over.

Rosebowl lives in Baton Rouge doesnt he? He dont know shite
Paul knows a little- but the staff only tells him what they want him to know or use him as a puppet
We got about what our staff thought we would get- and now they have to realign the recruiting board a little after seeing these guys more up close
This weekend went well

From what I have been told by a student manager i know is that Relf struggles passing in 7 on 7 drills compared to our other 3 QBs. Russell and Dak have big arms and Favre knows how to make plays with his arm.
I hope im wrong about Relf, but id just assume him running for 5 to 7 yds instead of making a bad pass.
Posted on 7/23/11 at 10:05 pm to CoonassBulldog
Coonass, why is it we can bring in some of the best D-linemen in the nation, yet we struggle our arse off every year to find a QB. (which I hear we aren't going to sign since Voytik isnt coming to state)

I'm a goddamn coach Bundy- I dont need a student manager to tell me shite
You said "arm strength"- and Relf is the top 1 of the 4 on arm strength
Arm strength does not include accuracy, decision-making, or mechanics which also play a huge part in 7 on 7 drills- you went from apples to oranges
