I think Alabama has a legit shot at a possible 3 or 4 seed in the SEC this year. I think LSU could possibly be aiming for a 5 or 6, anything higher would really surprise me. It'll be interesting to see how Morgan does at the guard and how well Godfrey and JOB produce inside. If the West division still existed the top teams would definitely be Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas.
ETA: I keep forgetting about aTm and Missouri.

cursed for firing their most successful coach.
Stansbury was our most consistent coach
He never coached us to our best season- Richard Williams did
And Babe McCarthy won the most SEC titles- winning 4 in 5 years in the 60's

Stansbury was always 1 or 2 games away every year. Just never could follow through.

I wonder if Hickey will have a sophomore slump like Releford did. He was very good last year when he wasn't out of control. It'll probably take until SEC play for Morgan to get comfortable but he should be a good one.

Coonass let's not kid ourself we may not win 20 combined games over the next 2 seasons.
Stansbury won 20 per year.
Our basketball program is in and will be in the shitter for the foreseeable future.

we'll be .500 in 2014...we'll schedule like Stansbury did in 2006 to make it happen and get some momentum

I just don't see Hickey running into a slump. He was pretty consistent all year, but who knows. I'm hoping we reel in Jarell Martin and Damien Jones in next years class.

I'm still not totally sure what we'll be like next year. Part of that is I haven't really gone in-depth on what everybody else has coming back.
Jacobs should give us some post scoring and I like our perimeter a lot. Hopefully we can defend the post and rebound at least competently.
I kind of agree on Cooper though. The LSU away game was easily the least disgusting loss of the year to me. We were so decimated that there were no expectations, and he just lit it up. Then everybody comes back and he gets timid again. Maybe he just needs some time and experience.

I remember being in the PMAC for this one. Gold shirt promo

I expect Jacobs to average 8-12 a game. That'd be huge. We gotta hope Moussa is 100% and Carl keeps progressing. He's agile enough to be decent.

We needa get a stickied SEC Basketball thread
Posted on 7/24/12 at 9:38 pm to lwlsu96
It would end up being a place for people to say who gives a shite about basketball.

I hate these frickers.

I was thinking about starting a thread asking for (relatively) non-homer thoughts on each team so I wouldn't have to actually look it up for myself.

If LSU looks competitive and hovers around .500 in league play I'll consider it a success. A lot of new faces...
Hickey/Collins
Morgan/Stringer
Coleman/Hammink/Courtney
O'Bryant/Ludwig/Courtney?
Godfrey
we need to find AT LEAST one more big man from somewhere before the season starts that isn't a tuba player.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. There's pretty much at least one poster from each school who knows a lot about their respective teams.

You think we have a shot at Odoh?

Odoh won't be eligible right?
