Does anyone know if Slive was on the committee this year? I know a couple of yrs ago he made a deal to give UT a lower seed in order to get another SEC team in, i wonder if he pushed his buddy Foley's school to get in over State?

The lesson to be learned here is don't lose to Rider, Richmond, and Western Kentucky
Well, Richmond's not a bad L. Rider and WKU, yeah.

And FWIW, no missed bubble team "gets screwed".

To be honest, I don't mind Mississippi State not being in. It was a coin toss. I can see this team be in it, and I can see them be out. What really pisses me off is that Florida got in ahead of them. fricking Florida. Florida didn't deserve to be in at all. And they get a 10 seed nonetheless. That was a mistake.

We got screwed more by the SEC officiating crews than the selection committee, although we did get snubbed big time. I hate it for our guys but it should be a lesson learned for our coaching staff and players to not take regular season games off, it'll screw you over on Selection Sunday.

There are a grand total of ZERO(0) college basketball referees associated with the SEC.
How many damned times do I need to say this?

This.
Plus, it's not like anyone got fair officiating against Kentucky this year.

Okay-I remember -I kept up with the high school players who were a little older than I in the early 70's...you guys had a running back...I can't remember his first name-I think his last name was Martino or Martinez-he opened a pub in Hattisburg years later....he was good. I remember there was a Sak Minio who played for De la Salle back then as well.

Two years ago Western Kentucky won 29 games and went to the Sweet Sixteen. Last year WKU won 25 games and made it to the 2nd round of the NCAAs. That is a quality team that MSU put on their schedule.
Also, losing to to WKU didn't seem to hurt Vandy's selection because they got beat by WKU, too. AT Vandy. WKU seemed to bottom out after beating Vandy and MSU and that caused their RPI to drop a ton.
MSU lost to Richmond, but so did Florida.
Rider had a better RPI than Arkansas and Auburn so they're not THAT bad a team. Florida's loss to #250+ South Alabama is a MUCH worse loss than MSU losing to Rider.
State beat Old Dominion, Florida, and Vanderbilt this season.

Luckily Florida got to play Tenn, Vandy, and Kentucky twice and only had to play Arkansas and LSU once.

You probably are referring to John or Bill Martinez from Sam Barthe. They were twins and I believe one of them got a scholarship to Bama and the other Tulane. I played at Barthe with them before transfering to St. Martin's. They graduated in 1969 and I in '70. These guys were 5'9", 170, ran 9.8 100s in 8th grade. Natural athletes.

We somewhat screwed ourselves on not getting in, but if we don't deserve to be in the tournament then there is no way in hell Florida deserves to be in the tournament.

Losing to Kentucky twice helped Vandy get selected too, but not you guys.

You are again right sir and I stand corrected-but I guess I was right about their ability....

I wasn't trying to compare it to UF's. I was just saying it as a fact.
And I know all about WKU. Their making of the Sweet 16 in 08 (which I picked) helped my bracket a lot. They weren't good this year, though.

Eh, we lost some games earlier that we should have won, like Rider and Western KY. We made our own bed by losing those games. But, we had a nice run this weekend and came up a little short. It happens. But at least we didn't get curb stomped like Tennessee or Minnesota.
