The kid has played one year

Honest question -- what are the realistic expectations for him (assuming the arrest doesn't get him kicked off) this coming season? He was, and presumably still is, a big time talent and from what I saw in the HS tape, quite deserving of his accolades. He was fast and powerful. So I'm wondering what the program insiders are saying about his progress.

The arrest will be nothing. It is weed. He showed a few flashes of getting it, but he has a ways to go. He will play but isn't going to dominate yet.

Florida fans hate Muschamp because of how bad he was. Jilted lovers means you at least kind of miss the other. I don't think that's true at all for UF fans

Surprising, considering how he was physically all there coming out of HS. Does he have a new DE coach or did Steele retain the old one?

It seems like I remember most reports are that things are starting to click for him but he got really behind last year and didn't have the best attitude. I hope to see him come along throughout the year with some flashes then his Jr year is when he shows out.

Garner is still there and he butted heads with him per internet rumors last season. Garner has put plenty of guys in the league so coaching isn't the issue. Sometimes guys just don't get it at first. Especially when they have dominated without technique their entire life.

Unrecruiting or something similar was the term I heard Garner using last year in regard to Cowart.

What I mean by don't get it...there is a technique to playing DE and sometimes it takes guys who have always been bigger, faster, stronger than the competition a bit longer to figure out the technique. It often helps a kid to be smaller until say Junior years so they have to learn the technique first then grow. Lawson is an outlier with his work ethic.

Now that is a legitimate point. There are kids who are just monsters on the field and never had to test themselves, so the transition is ironically harder than far less gifted players who had to drill like crazy just to maintain their ability to be effective.
