If he is so great and without flaws, how was his stay in Miami such a disaster ?
did you see how well miami did the year after he left? Michigan state dissolved because it's michigan state man. it's really simple. they're a 2nd tier program... he just made them seem otherwise. LSU isn't ultimately a 2nd tier team. they have the foundation and structure and setup to be a top tier program. and he built THEM that way.
I wager that few NFL coaches would have seen a much better outcome with that Miami team personally. but again, his NFL career has nothing to do with his college career. the job of being a HC at the PRO level vs being a HC at the college level are entirely different.
that's why great coaches like Saban and Spurrier don't make it in the pros.

Miami had been a disaster well before Saban rolled in. I truly think he realized quickly after going to Miami his passion was teaching kids how to play football. He's great at that, and I'm glad he did it at LSU. I like Miles, too, but in a different way. I've never giggled after so many wins in all my years of watching LSU football. Keep on doing it, but if we start losing...next.

bottom line. 1 foot separated LSU from losing to MSU last week. and multiple other things like that have happened in Miles' favor.
I guess Miss St. wasn't extremely lucky that Helton, the punter/holder, sucked so much arse. LSU had some of the most costly unforced errors imaginable. All of the Miss St turnovers except possibly one involved some amount of an LSU action.
