you could make arguments against most of those points though
1. Not everybody likes dealing with months of snow each year.
i doubt snow or no snow matters (especially when you're used to it) but the attraction of "home" is huge for many. i have no idea where Elko lies on that spectrum.
2. If he is successful here, he will still most likely be one of the highest paid coaches in the country.
true but i think someone like Elko might find it more tasteful and easier to accept a crazy offer and play the "returning home" card than to play the "pay me or lose me" game with A&M.
3. He’s already rebuilt this program in record time, why choose to do it again so soon.
it's not that rebuilding is an attraction, but rather his confidence in being
able to do that makes it much less of a negative
4. A few more schools to compete against but greater odds of more teams getting into the playoffs from the SEC.
Not really. SEC has 6-10 teams viable every year (starting out) with 3 or 4 or 5 berths.
B10 has maybe 4 or 5 viable for 3 or 4 berths
5. The Midwest will never ever be the epicenter of college football again. The SEC is the epicenter of college football.
I said Penn St would be at the epicenter- not that the epicenter would be Penn St. or the Midwest. big difference.
