My high school used the Dodge Ram logo and they came down hard on them. A local dodge dealership decided to do a pretty cool thing and pay for a new logo design in addition to paying for changing the logos in the gym, on the football field, baseball/softball fields, uniforms, etc
Even though the local dodge dealership had nothing to do with Dodge demanding that the school change their logo, the local dealership went above and beyond and donated a lot of money to help the school change the logo and all that was needed to make Dodge happy.
Now, the really cool thing about it was other local dodge dealerships heard about this so they all started donated money, etc so every dodge dealership in central florida ended up helping out to change the logo to become compliant with Dodge corporate

My high school used the Michigan winged-T helmet when I was there, but it has since been changed.

Rutgers sent Ruston High School a cease-and-desist because they used the same R on the helmets and other things.

Winged helmets I think predates Michigan, I think an Ivy or NFL team used them first but it was just a different color patch on a leather helmet.

Georgia's logo is the old Chicago Maroon logo
The Maroons logo has been a “C” since 1898.

High Schools and such still must contact the university for permission to use those logo's, however, because they're registered trademarks and using them w/o permission is a trademark infringment -- a federal offense.
Universities usually have no problem allowing high schools to use them and don't charge them a fee for using them, either.
Yeah, W.T. White high school in Dallas looks like this:

So Texas definitely lets schools use the logo.

I actually find it more interesting when High schools use college fight songs.
Graplend, Silsbee, North Garland, Mesquite Poteet, SEaly, East Bernard, Grand Prarie, and whole ton of other high schools sing the Aggie War Hymn with just minor tweaks, all due to some lazy music teacher backs in the 1950s.
