I've definitely made some mental errors on here before but the lack of understanding of arithmetic in that post is next-level

Not only that, it was a word problem. Missing the fact that an average was implied is a lack of reading comprehension.
Definitely can see it as a simple mistake when replying quickly but it had layers of irony.

The cost was $25 per person does denote an average. It says each person paid $25. The average cost per person as $25 says the average cost per person is $25.
