This is for those of you who don't know who he is (or claim to not know who he is).
Mason Taylor is the son NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor and Katina Taylor who was a former TV reporter and journalist.
Although Mason only received a three-star recruiting ranking, he received offers from LSU, Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M, and others.
Ahead of his freshman season at LSU, he received rave reviews from first-year head coach Brian Kelly.
Mason's rocky start to the 2022 season coincided with several lackluster performances by LSU's offense.
However, Mason's ability began to flash during the Ole Miss game where he scored his first career touchdown.
This is what Nick Saban had to say about Mason:
Mason's athleticism was really showcased in LSU's 32-31 win over Alabama where he scored a touchdown and the game-winning two-point conversation.
At this point, Mason is primed to become a freshman all-american. It will be exciting to see what this kid can do in the future.
Here's a little lagniappe for those interested in his family:

quote:
During his radio show on Thursday, Kelly called Taylor as good as any freshman tight end he’s ever coached and compared him to Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.
“He’s going to hit like the kid from Georgia hit,” Kelly said, and called Taylor the No. 1 surprise of fall camp. “We hit a home run.”

quote:
“I like coaching when they’re on my team better than when they’re on somebody else’s team,” Saban said during his weekly radio show on Thursday ahead of the Tide’s road game against the Tigers. “We actually tried to recruit Jason’s son here. LSU did a good job, they got on him early and he’s gonna be a really good player.”

Seems like a good young player. Kelly really utilized TEs well at ND so it’s no surprise he’d do so at LSU.

Crazy that LSU’s extremely small high school class has 4 or 5 freshman playing at a Freshman All-American level.

Good share.
It will be fun to compare him to Oscar Delp in a couple of years.
