Earlier in the day, Missouri had closed Tuesday's practice to reporters. Mauk was absent from the team's media availability Monday, having been out of town while his father underwent surgery in his fight against colorectal cancer.
Sounds like the kid is going through a bunch of stuff right now.
Football and sound decision making may not be at the forefront of his thoughts.

No doubt, there is a lot of stuff affecting him other than football. His dad coached him through high school too. Horrible situation.
None of us want to see him leave the program, or end his career this way. Hoping for the best for him personally, and hope he can put this behind him.
Now it's time to see what the kid can do. Lock and Load!!

It's true, but at the same point in time he has to be responsible for his own decisions. If rumors are true he has been fricking up pretty badly. Hopefully this will serve as a wake up call for him and he can move forward.

Yeah, the rumor mill make it sound pretty bad. I hope that's not the case. But there's a lot of smoke.

Sure, I get that.
But sometimes when life is coming at you, seemingly all at once, it can be tough to hold together every single piece of your life.
I can't speak to his fricking up pretty badly as of late; but it sounds like maybe that's a symptom of whatever it is he's working through?
Here's hoping his friends, teammates, and coaches look out for and support him as best as they can.

None. Lock will be our best QB maybe ever because he has the skills of Gabbert but leadership of Chase Daniel.
It's a New Era for Mizzou and I don't see Lock giving up the job.
2017 Mizzou will be in the Natl' Championship and win. Gut feeling but watch out.

Could very well be. I'm sure his father's situation is weighing on him. Good news is that his father had succesful surgery so hopefully he recovers from this.
GP won't abandon him. Hopefully he does what is right for his football team first and foremost, but GP will stay in his corner. He still talks with DGB regularly.
