The glass half-full outlook is that this is an era that will be viewed as an outlier in the future (Like the late 60s and Vietnam era is now) and we'll revert to a somewhat normal, healthier society soon. I'll defer to guys who were around back then.

There is a big difference in allowing counterculture freaks to live their lives in peace with their idiotic views and having it become the mainstream.
Is this the part where we all admit that RATM's criticisms of U.S. foreign policy were overwhelmingly correct? Because frankly, that's long overdue.

Maybe you should have posted this there yourself instead of relying on others to clean up your mistakes? Lazy bastard.

I'm not watching...I am now down with the NBA, NFL, MLB< and college football.

Never watch most other sports. So I am now sportless. I will spend my time with family and friends from now on. They can have it all back.

It boggles my mind that the same tough right wing guys that love calling dems snowflakes are so thin skinned that they can't watch sports anymore because a football team walked down the street on a weekday.

Toughen up.

Have you consulted with them on this to ensure this plan matches with their wishes?

Because I don’t allow politics or what other people believe dictate my life. I watch for the game and hope that my fav team wins. Simple, easy, and I’m content with my life.

This is how politics will end up dictating your life.

How do you think the lunatics started running the asylum? The statue-toppling, rioting, looting, murdering hate-filled Marxists who want to destroy the “fundamentally racist” US system (easy) and rebuild it with God knows what (CHAZ?) are infiltrating every crack and fissure of our culture, and you continue to fund the organizations that they hijack with your views and purchases. You send the signal that you are ok with politicized sports.

If people like you (I don't mean that negatively) feel that strongly, speak (or don't rather) with your money. If that movement is strong enough, this may go away.

My family and I have. We can only hope enough others will do the same because I can't afford to put my livelihood on the line to actually speak with anything other than my wallet and the ballot I cast in November. I have people that rely on me, so I'm not willing to sacrifice the people that depend on my support for my own personal political beliefs that could put my job on the line if said beliefs are voiced publicly. Crazy world we live in right now.

After an off-season chock full of posts from grown men who have supposedly loved college football for decades and named their kids after the school mascot or whatever but are now so done with CFB because the players decided to speak out against police brutality, I never want to hear another word about how left-wingers are supposedly the ones who melt down and cry over being exposed to other people's opinions.

I think the rub is that they're not hearing or being exposed to both sides of the coin. Let's say a coach decided to have members from both parties and advocates from both sides of any current social issue in this country speak to the team so that they could then be able to form a fully educated stance on whatever that issue may be. How do you think that would go over in today's climate? I personally think that would be received very poorly, which is a problem. It's never healthy to live in an echo chamber nor is it conducive for productive discourse and progress.

And while some coaches are definitely sincere about their intentions, you've got to think that some see the writing on the wall and don't want to be pegged in recruiting as the school that doesn't care about what the players want.

bingo. Coaches have been backed into a corner here.

Politics and Sports DO NOT need to be mixed. It’s that simple and that’s why I’m not watching. I’d have the same opinion if these schools and kids were marching for higher taxes, more funding for federal parks, cuts to the IRS, global warming, etc.. No politics in sports, period.

That's not what is happening at all. What's happening is people who lean to the right are being attacked for simply having different political beliefs which has only gotten more and more divisive really ever since Obama took office and has come to a head the past few years. Now, with our universities and athletic departments basically telling us that we are wrong is them alienating probably the majority of the fan base. So it begs the question, why should we spend our time, energy, and money on an entity that has told us, repeatedly, that they don't like us or how we think. And it has gone as far as trying to assassinate the character of some really good people. Dabo Swinney is completely harmless and very likely genuinely cares about each and every one of his players, yet that didn't stop him from being raked through the goals earlier this summer. Drew Brees has probably done as much or more for the less fortunate than anyone in the NFL, yet he was completely railroaded for making a comment that never should have drawn the ire from the media. It's gotten out of control.

You don't see many "right wingers" out protesting in mass and attacking people who don't subscribe to their core beliefs. Someone saying they may not want to involve themselves with certain things anymore isn't even in the same ballpark as what we've been seeing going on across the country the past several months.

I'm not sure why you think this.

When Tim Tebow spoke out against abortion, did anyone call for him to sit down with members of Planned Parenthood to make sure that he adequately understood the position of pro-choice advocates?

No, the vast majority of people agreed that Tebow had a right to his opinion, whether we disagreed with it or not, and that he was probably as educated on the subject as a college student could be.

There are plenty of people opposing the anti police brutality movement and arguing for why it's all a load of bunk. There are news networks and websites that have arguably focused overwhelmingly on the negative aspects of the movement and argued against it for months, and many of them have brought on African-American pundits to discuss why the movement is harmful. The information and arguments for that side are easily accessible to anyone.

Are people really going to assume that the only reason these young men don't share their opinion on this issue is due to ignorance?

In all seriousness I think this year social justice will do what no other teams could do and that destroy the SEC

I believe the college game will try and follow the NFL. There will be "social justice" ceremonies before games, maybe having players come out and kneel for the anthem.....Typically, players are in the locker room but this will change and I could see it being covered on TV.
Every other commercial will promote BLM, etc.....
If you do not think this will effect the game, just look at the NBA TV ratings except that with the college game, donars who do not want to have this shoved on them will simply walk away along with their $$$$......AD's are going to be in a bad spot with this.....if they do not play along, they will be labeled raciest.....if they do, they lose tons of $$$$.....the easy solution is to keep sports and politics separate but I am afraid there is too much water under the bridge at this point.
