I went back and watched the game on hailstate TV. That pic I uploaded is before the ball even gets to home plate. It was nowhere even close to hitting him. Like others have said, he wasn't trying to hit him, or he would have at least been a little closer than he was. It may have been a stupid move in retrospect, but it obviously worked like he intended since he went 0-2 with a K in today's game. I never liked throwing at or behind batters on purpose, but it will continue to be a part of the game.

Your coach and best hitter just went crybaby mode to the media over a pitch that wasn't even actually anywhere close to his head -- which should be surprising to no one after the little display Mainieri put on last year in Hoover.
You don't like our coach because he's an a-hole. We don't like yours because he's a crybaby. We both accept this is fact -- and that neither of us are going to change it. Time to move on.

Yet there is no talk about Mississippi St. losing 2 games to SAMFORD last year in the FSU regional, because it's not a storyline that Miss St. got eliminated.

That ball is obviously from a side angle taken when the ball is behind him already. If you went back 5 frames on that you could make it look like it him in the face.
