I went to LSU in the dark ages of the 90's so trust me I've seen the highest and the lowest in person. That is precisely why I value the chance to win a National Championship so much, specially when my team would have legitimate arguments.

2003 is a different scenario as none of the top 3 teams had played each other prior to the BCSCG. My biggest complaint about that year is that people forget that the controversy was over OU getting in, not LSU. Everybody agreed that LSU deserved to be in the Championship game, so LSU did it’s part.
