This is one case where Nick doesn't speak for all Alabama fans.

What do you want me to say? You can poll every Bama fan on this site, and they will say that LSU is not a rival.

They don't make them much better than Barrett Jones.
He gets a lot of pub for the stuff he did in Haiti and rightfully so, bu that team is full of guys that go out of their way to help those less fortunate. And they were doing so before the storm.
Thanks for the kind words.

Don't know if you keep up with ALL the bygone era stuff but LSU did have teams before Miami was a blip on the screen including a Heisman winner and a national Title. It was not Boise like you are desperately trying to make it out to be (maybe insecurities?)

I just pointed out in the previous post that the some of the past (traditional) powerhouses , for whatever be the reason, have done squat in the past two decades and are struggling today and your reply is the same. I sure am willing to wait and see another decade to see if they need more time to prove that I am wrong.

Seriously did you just read up on Bama and not know about any other school and their history at all to make such stupid childish claims?

No could about it.

I have to say that the BAMA/LSU game has become what FL/TN was through the nineties. It is a rivalry in my opinion but on a smaller scale than TN and way smaller than Auburn. I dont come into daily contact with LSU like I do auburn so that puts it behind in importance. The LSU fans I do come into contact with are more humble or toned down because they know they live on foriegn soil here in Alabama. I grew up during an era when TN was stronger than LSU so I have historical precedence in that regards. However I have circled the LSU game as the swing game of the season since '05. Win it and it's going to be a great year. lose it and your playing for steak knives.

Your (did it again) talking mighty singular there Cal. Face it dude. Before Saban, LSU was a Clemson. A competitive team with 1 title but not in the reagular discussion.
All jawing aside I probably could have a beer or two and talk football with you Cal. You dont back down and believe what you speak. Enjoy the game. One of us has some serious chest beating coming our way tomorrow.

quote:I see Bama in this light as well. I guess it all comes down to how you want to define "rivalry". I don't see it ever being a rivalry in the sense of UA/AUB or UA/TN (borderline hatred). I don't limit rivalry to that perspective alone; that fits the term "bitter rival". Whatever anyone chooses to label this, I love this game and look forward to it.

Why did Saban use the term rival?

Rivalries are for people with fake hair and that smell like mothballs.

LSU fans understand Bama is a top 5 program of all time. We understand you whipped us more times than not. We understand Bear is a legend in the football world. We understand LSU doesn't have near the accomplishments. We get it, trust me.
What it seems that you Bama fans don't understand is that the majority of your accomplishments came before most of this generations football fans were born. 20-30 year olds don't give a shite what happened in the 70's. Current Bama students have zero recollection of how it was in Bama's heyday. But they spew it like they were right there standing on the sidelines with the Bear. Like you're some untouchable entity. Fact is, over the last decade LSU has been better than Bama, by leaps and bounds.
This generations football fan looks at LSU as a top 5 program. Bama just recently got back in this echelon. Bama and LSU are on equal ground in this day and age. Deal with it.

Hanging onto shite 40 years ago is for losers hanging on to the past, and have no answer for the present. Bama is good enough to stand on it's own right now, not built on the foundation of the Bears grave
