I follow basketball more than any other sport and believe most of what most LSU fans have said in this thread (haven't read the whole thing). LSU could lose Mickey and Martin and still be a tournament team next year with a shot at finishing in the top 3 in the SEC.
UK fans are the only ones on this board who seem to know how good LSU's incoming class is going to be. Arkansas fans are so caught up in trolling that they forget to have legitimate discussions.
Let me know if you'd like to try it sometime.

Who on earth is giving these kids the advice to go pro?

martin is ready and I don't think Mickey can raise his stock any more. Martin just needs a mid range game, and plenty of PF/C in the NBA didn't develop that while in college.

So a bubble team, with a 3rd or 4th place conference finish. Gotcha. 100% agree. Be just about the same as this past seasons team.
The others that think Final Four...boy oh boy. The letdown will be rough.

I disagree but wish them the best of course.

I said top 3 in the conference, which would not be a bubble team.
It's not impossible. LSU has 2-3 possible 1 and done caliber players coming in next year that would both be in the NBA next year if they could be.
Not to mention will be much deeper at the guard position. If Mickey somehow stays, LSU will be a preseason top 15 team next year.
And Jones being a bad coach is a fallacy. He may have not substituted at times when some of us wish he would, but LSU lacked depth and he didn't trust some of the other bigs.

I'd think Martin translates to an NBA 3.

You can't glare at the stats. LSU plays up-tempo, Martin runs the floor, is very athletic yet still raw in a lot of aspects. But his skill set and style of play at LSU translates.

meh, he's 6'10. He can play PF IMO
eta not sure of his dribbling abilities to play the 3. But he is athletic for a big guy.

No, you said a shot at top 3.
And no, you have 1 potential one and done. Blakeney is a 2-3 year player, and would not be going pro without college first. Kid is a composite 18 overall player, that is worse than Portis and he'll be staying for his JR year (although he doesn't need to draft stock wise, would still be 2 years).
Johnny Jones isn't Calipari either, not even close. But a Sweet 16 ceiling would be reasonable.

Well I'll retract my statement and say LSU will likely finish in the top 3, and not be a bubble team.

Blakeney is a 2-3 year player
The only reason Blakeney would be a 3 year player would be because he's only 6'4. He's been a top 20 guard for over a year. If the rules had not been changed, I have no doubt that he could have been drafted out of HS. McDonalds AA, possible Mr basketball, averaged nearly 30 points per game, etc etc

Antonio Blakeney is better then any player on Arkansas' roster. Shut the frick up.

I chose not to address that part of his statement as it was not something I wanted to get into, and barely worth refuting.

Because I brought news to the SEC rant that a basketball player is declaring for the draft? The frick is wrong with LSU fans? Most insecure fricks on this board.

LSU will be better.
All about depth. And they will have more.
However, I wouldn't call them a Final Four contender, for sure.
