At least Kansas didn’t beat them in football @Texas for the first time ever

Dang

Can’t not even beat a middle of the pack SEC team in their best sport.

Lots of salty longhorn fans in this thread. Baseball can be humbling, and texas got a dose of humble pie yesterday.

Good series South Carolina. I thought this could be a tricky series, and it was. Not even the longhorns’ game 1 win came easy.

Would’ve loved to go undefeated against the sec, but I’ll settle for 7-2 if we can beat the Aggies in a couple tuesdays from now

Personally I was worried yall were going to boatrace us, not only because we struggled all season, but because I expected that State loss to really get your minds right

Fair. But we've lost to State before. They're not particularly a nobody program for those who have followed college baseball in the past. And it'd be fair to say that this could be their best team they've ever had.

Road series are never easy in college baseball. Texas did well with them last year because they probably had more to prove and were never once considered a top 3 or 4 team in the country until the last couple of weeks.

I'm interested to see how they respond getting knocked down a peg. They've got 6 games against clearly inferior opponents before their first conference series, so this is a good opportunity for a resounding rebound performance

oh for sure. Midweek games are tricky and if youre a good team dropping a few means very little at all. Sometimes youre okay with it to get that kick in the butt. A coach can use that to motivate a team.

losing a weekend series, in or out of conference definitely hurts more, especially perception wise since its your top 3 arms.

honestly I only wanted to win so bad because as much as I love a bat flip, I did think it was a bit far to flip it at the pitcher. I am sure if it was my guy, id defend him, but wouldnt be happy about it.

As soon as I saw that, I was annoyed and a bit mortified. Surprised only the next batter wore one. In Ivan's defense, he had a good weekend. The rest of the team failed to show up Sunday.

My biggest worry about Texas, especially 10 games into the season, was how they would deal with adversity. They played so well to start the season, and had a tremendous outing in Houston, and I think it got to the players' heads a bit that the whole season would be easy. They were wrong, and they paid for it by getting hit in the mouth all 5 games against Texas St. and USC (even though they did scrap to win 2 of those).

It could be a blessing in disguise.

No disguise for South Carolina, though. They needed a result in the worst way this weekend and got it. If they can put it together consistently like that, they'll be a threat
