How would you like to see this proven? Anything other than QB ratings? Or is this admittedly biased statistic your only gauge?
Keep in mind I haven't looked up Petrino QB histories or their ratings...they might be just as good or better than Malzahn for all I know. But yes, typically having more demanded on a player would make them better.

Wow, Some of you Arkansas fans are fricking impossible. I give up.
Seriously, dude. We're both familiar with BOTH styles of offense. You can't debate the fact that Petrino's offense requires more downfield passing, which happens to exhibit a higher degree of difficulty. So if you can tell me of another way of comparing QB's that's more apples to apples, I'm open to the debate.

Comparing philosophies < comparing results.

Through 2009:
quote:
In the process, Arkansas set six school passing records, boasted the most productive tight end in Razorback history, John Mackey Award semifinalist D.J. Williams, and featured a 1,000-yard rusher in Michael Smith. Arkansas quarterbacks produced four 300-yard passing games in 2008. Only nine times in the 114-year history of Razorback Football had the feat been previously accomplished.
quote:
In his coaching career, Petrino has worked with countless players who went on to play professionally, including an impressive list of NFL quarterbacks. As a head coach, he helped develop quarterbacks Stefan LeFors (2003-04) and Brian Brohm (2004-06) at Louisville. As a coordinator or assistant, he tutored Jason Campbell at Auburn (2002), Chris Redman at Louisville (1998), Jake Plummer at Arizona State (1993), and Doug Nussmeier (1990-91) and John Friesz (1989) at Idaho.
quote:
Under Petrino's tutelage, quarterback Stefan LeFors led the nation in completion percentage (73.5) and passing efficiency (181.74), narrowly missing NCAA records in both categories.
quote:
Before going to Auburn, he spent three seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was the quarterbacks coach in 1999 and 2000, and the offensive coordinator in 2001. While with the Jaguars, he worked with quarterback Mark Brunell, who threw for 3,640 yards in 2000, which was the second-highest total in team history, and 3,309 yards in his 2001 season as offensive coordinator.
quote:
Petrino and quarterback Chris Redman helped the Cardinals set school records for points scored (444), scoring average (40.4), touchdowns (62), passing yards (4,498), passing touchdowns (33) and total yards (6,156). Redmen passed for 300 yards or more eight times on the season while reserve quarterback Mike Watkins also topped the 300-yard passing mark once.
quote:
In 1992 and '93, he was the quarterbacks coach at Arizona State where he assisted in the development of future All-American and NFL star Jake Plummer. While with the Sun Devils, Petrino also worked with then-ASU quarterback and current UA quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee.

Good enough. Some of that seems sketchy (ex. Tutored Jason Campbell in '02). Campbell's really only good year was 2003/2004... but I digress. No more arguing from me. Hopefully this year, Malzahn will have Newton prepped up and ready for the Arkansas game.

How can you lead all SEC wide receivers in every stat category except for receptions in conference play and not get mentioned anywhere?
Because AJ Green, Brandon LaFell, Darvin Adams, and Julio Jones were all better?
Also...why are we discounting OOC games again?
I suppose we should throw out Darvin's 6 catches for 80 yards and 3 TDs against West Virginia?
Or perhaps we should throw out Green's 153 yards and 1 TD against Arizona State?
I mean....those teams are just cupcakes right? Not even worth counting?
Seriously, do you know how stupid that sounds?

A.J. Green is still the best.

You left out 1st team all sec Shay Hodge

Yes I did. Sorry about that. He led the SEC in just about every category.
And according to Arkansas fans, we should probably just discount his 7 catches for 112 yards in the bowl game against Oklahoma State....because everybody knows OCC games don't count.

This was regarding All-SEC and most notably SEC games...That's why they were throwing them out...Take yo arse back to the Rant

Also....
I suppose we should just ignore the fact that Childs had fewer than five catches in each of Arkansas' five OOC games (which includes the bowl).
Seriously....3 catches against A&M, Eastern Michigan, and Troy?
And this guy is supposedly the SEC's best? Give me break guys.

Well if that's the case, then there goes there Mallett for 1st team all SEC argument. Everyone knows how he performed in his big SEC games...

I know you are trying to throw them out, but that idea is stupid.
OOC games count. Childs didn't perform well in Arkansas'. That is a fact.

I'm not throwing them out...Aaron from Little Rock and Chris Low are comparing SEC performances
OOC were blowouts...We got more than one playmaker

There are like 4 arguments in this thread...and the "weak one" you are referring too is not mine.
So...really you are just talking shite without really saying anything

I understand that. Give me a little credit.
What I am saying, and pay attention because this is the part you are missing.....is that such a comparison is not a valid pursuit. In fact, it is quite absurd.

Like that 3 point bowl game victory over ECU where Childs has 3 catches for 30-something yards?
Right.
