More like the other way around. They linked to a Scout.com page for reinforcements.

The interwebz are serious business.

I'm not getting trolled. I think it's cute that they went to all of the trouble of signing up for an account because of a single thread.

Rupp was the second SEC coach to sign an African American player. Everyone back then was racist to some extent.

Most SEC fans don't care what you say. You're not a part of this conference, and you never will be. We protect our own.

This is so cute and pathetic all at the same time.

And we now have come full circle. The "I knew a UK fan once that said something racist...". It was only a matter of time before that one was pulled out.

Actually BluegrassBelle that was me who linked it to the Scout page. I figured the UofL fans on Cardinal Authority would get a good laugh out of this thread. I actually visit the SECRant boards pretty regularly along with the Saints talk board (I lived in New Orleans for several years and became a Saints fan, and yes, before they were good, lol) but I just had to sign up and respond to all the blatant lies you UK fans were posting about UofL. I don't care what UK fans think about UofL, but I do care about defending my school.

BluegrassBelle I don't agree with the other UofL fans "Atheist" comment but we all know UK invited the word bigot and perfected the art of being a bigot.

I have a little story to tell you, I went with a UK game back in 2005 against Florida. A friend of mine is a UK fans (one of the few good ones) and had some extra tickets, so I went. Now unlike UK fans who go to UofL games (not involving UK) with all their UK garb, I was respectful and wore a neutral color polo shirt. As we are walking towards the stadium through a tailgating lot, I hear UK fans talking about Tubby Smith (back when he was under fire). These UK fans were saying stuff like *that n*gger should've never been coach of UK, I can't believe we still have that n*gger as UK coach". They weren't trying to hide it either and almost all the UK fans who walked by heard it. You know how many UK fans stopped and confronted them about their racism, not one single fan. UK will always have a racist part of their fan base, and I understand that most UK fans are not racists, but the fact that your fan base would not stand up to them says it all. If that was a UofL fan I would've gone right up and confronted them if not hit one of them for their comments. Those UofL fans would not last 5 minutes at a UofL game with those type of racists remarks.

You can say you don't believe me, but I heard it with my own two ears and it was clear as day, so the fact is it was the truth. Thought the rest of you SEC fans would enjoy hearing more about the bigoted and racist UK fan base.

I'd like to see some proof of this.

There is no proof. It's hearsay from our biggest rival. A rival that is so butt hurt over comments on a message board, for a conference that has nothing to do with them, that they had to sign up here to refute them.

You can deny it all you want BluegrassBelle but last time I checked my hearing was just fine. I heard what they were saying loud and clear. Most UK fans to their credit didn't chime in to agree but they were trying to ignore the comments. Unlike UK fans I don't lie to try to make my own university look better.

Why hasn't this thread gone away yet. Taking Louisville would be equivalent to taking Memphis.

Why did you go out of your way to make a thread about this on another forum?

And I heard what black Louisville fans said to a white Patrick Sparks in Freedom Hall when he hit those free throws. Fanbases have their fair share of douches. But the old "UK is racist" schtick is a always a good one. Especially knowing UK has had a black HC in basketball before Louisville ever thought about one in their marquee sport and for a decade no less (we were so racist he stayed for a decade ). Add to it Pitino had the first black female assistant on his bench at UK, Joker Phillips was a black HC for football recently, and you look like an idiot suggesting otherwise past Rupp's tenure.

Rupp signed an African American for two reasons, political pressure that was happening around the country, and because Rupp wanted to win. Rupp realized that to win he needed African American players (after the 1966 Championship Game) but make no mistake about it, Rupp could have cared less about them.

It is well known that UK did not integrate until the 70s, well after UofL. :)

Rupp had black players on his teams before he was even at UK. Any other falsities you want to throw out?

And Unseld said himself he would've played for Rupp but didn't want to travel to the south. He as well as Beard was recruited by UK. Might want to brush up on your history involving your own players before you start spouting bullshite.

Of course I would like to remind you of a few things about UofL regarding this topic as well:

UofL was first to hire a black head coach in any of the major sports (Ron Cooper in 1995).

UofL was the first school the have had 2 black head coaches lead the football program (Ron Cooper in 1995 and Charlie Strong in 2010).

UofL integrated its university and sports programs well before UK did.

I give UK credit for hiring black coaches in basketball and football. But that credit goes to the UK administration, not the UK fans. Just because your administration hired black coaches doesn't mean your fan base isn't racist.

Wow, you really need to do some research. The first black students were admitted to the University of Kentucky 1949 in graduate programs.

In 1954 Kentucky opened admission to undergraduate studies to black students. Louisville didn't do so until 1955.

Because they didn't have to travel to the South to compete. Same reasons most of the SEC didn't integrate until late.
