I was never a fan of paying someone record money that could be going to a recruit each year … defense wasn’t OUs problem . We tried to get him but ultimately we wasnt going to get into a bidding war for someone that wouldn’t make us much better on defense . We are already going to be pretty damn good next year with who we have coming back . I want all our money going to offensive playmakers . For the record Jim Knowles reached out to OU 2 weeks ago and Penn state after their dc left …. He obviously wanted out of Ohio state . Money talks . I don’t like paying assistants 3 mil dollars it’s opening up a big can of worms and it’s just another reason why paying recruits will never end because if a assistant coach can make that then a player should be making atleast 100k per player !
