How so. We have an organization that makes rules for who is a champion. If you can claim a championship outside of that organization's selectors, then why not just find someone, anyone, who can make a system that continually says you are champs every year?

As far as I can tell, you are the only team in the SEC claiming a national title without an NCAA recognized selector saying you're champs. And you're doing it three times. Count 'em....

Solid information bro.

Its 1914. Who cares? Maybe the Sears and Roebuck should've also rode their horse and carriage to Auburn more often back then huh. Was Sears conspiring bro?

Banners are hanging low and proudly in my house.

It’s embarrassing that an SEC program has such an inferiority complex that they would do something as stupid and laughable as this. Poor AU! So desperate for attention.

Appreciate the info. Now do Georgia’s 1942 claim when you get a chance.

I’m 4 pages late, but I’ll go with 1993 - a year they were not even eligible for the post-season and were serving a TV ban.

They also played Samford, Southern Miss, New Mexico State, and Vanderbilt as a part of their 11 game schedule.

AP ranked them #1.

They also murdered teams all year.

Auburn finished AP #4 & won 4 games by one possession.

Otherwise, I agree. Any team claiming a national championship in a year they weren’t eligible for post-season play is silly.

I didn’t. I agreed with your point that it’s silly.

However, it is technically legitimate, as the AP handed them the #1 ranking, despite the very real possibility that virtually none of them saw Oklahoma play that year.

There is a clear uneven standard if relying on voters to name champions especially compared to Oklahoma 1974 and Auburn 1993. Voters also erroneously left yall out in 1966 so you should also be done with their whims.

Sure. I don't think you understand this.

Georgia was named a national champ by Berryman, the Billingsley Report, the Devold System, the Houlgate System, the Litkenhous Ratings, the Poling System, the Sagarin Ratings, and the Williamson System. Three of these ratings were comtemporary, meaning they named Georgia the number one team at the time the 1942 season ended. This is 8 total selectors.

By comparison, Ohio State (AP poll champ) was selected by 6 selectors.

Only 1950 Tennessee could have a more deserving argument as national champ after not being selected by the AP or Coach's poll.

The total amount of NCAA selectors that anointed Auburn national champs in 1914, 1958 and 2004 is......

The total amount of NCAA selectors anointing you as national champs in all of your non AP claimed national championships:

1910- 1
1913- 1
1914- 0
1958- 0
1983- 5 (I've never had a problem with this one)
1993- 1
2004- 0

Total 8

Georgia had just as many selectors say we were national champs in 1942 as you had in the seven championships you claim that are non AP or coach's poll championships.

To my knowledge you are the only SEC team claiming a championship without at least one NCAA selector saying you were champion. And you're doing it three times.
