This is the understatement of the year, I don’t know if anyone’s ever been that mad at me

He follows me around like a little puppy nipping at my heels

How can someone stay mad at Sarge though? Even when he and I trade friendly insults I don't get mad at him.

You know this is not true. If we could only see the RA log, I'm sure you'd find some heavy users punching your name...

I was working a room in the summer of 2006 up north for some B1G BoD folks and was able to overhear the discussions on adding Notre Dame or Nebraska to the B1G and getting a CCG.

While this was not being in the room for the discussions for B12 schools to the PAC, it was years before that. Hence, Nebraska to the B1G in 2006 was before B12 to the PAC in say 2008 or 2009.

That is where I was offering the correction to Sarge's narrative.

As for what is reported on realignment in general, what gets released to the press may have nothing to do with the actual history and timeline of events that actually took place. The "nudge nudge, wink wink" golf encounter that put Nebraska in play to the B1G would never become the narrative as that would be the smoking gun of of a large lawsuit. While it is a "rumor" it seems much more plausible than what got released to the press and recorded to history.

I still think it highly probable the Mizzou to the SEC train originally boarded on that plane flight from TAMU with Mr Pringle and the Mizzou guy going to speak to Oklahoma together. Shortly after Mizzou joins the SEC and Mr Pringle goes from TAMU to MU. While this narrative may not be the 100% correct answer, it seems highly probable it would have happened. (no, I was not on that plane flight)

2006 = folks at the table to expand B1G express desire for Nebraska and Notre Dame

2009 = folks at the table to expand PAC desire B12 schools

Yes, and if you are really old you can look at this pic and see all kinds of 60's and 70's references!

Grits, he doesn’t care or understand

This entire thread was started because he’s mad at me, it’s continued because people are laughing at him

But he doesn’t give a darn about the actual discussion

You are calling posters by the snide term of Side Walkers while not spelling it correctly and being unaware if its meaning saying you didn't insult those who did not attend college.

Now you are preemptively awarding yourself a victory.

What did you win? You can't spell. You don't know what the term sidewalker means. You continually lose and then declare yourself the winner thinking that by doing so it will make it so.

Stupid coonass.

Hey why stop at "Stupid Coonass" why don't you go further, rather than just insulting French-Louisiana folks, why not go after the tons of Ethnic Catholic types in Louisiana (The Italians like myself, the Polish like my wife, the Irish, etc.), hell why not go after the Blacks and Jews as well and show your true colors.

You could have made your point without all that. In fact, I as an LSU fan agree it was a stupid post. And my guess is it is not even an LSU fan. LSU and Texas A&M have a long history together. I am not trying to pump the "We are more patriotic than you crap" as I hate armchair hawks. However, after the Service Academies, Texas A&M and LSU produced more WW2 officers than any other school in America. Now some LSU historians point out that Texas A&M before the 1950's was not a Co-ed University thus LSU in fact produced more WW2 officers than any other University. So there are some distinctions made by LSU historians on this question. Regardless, LSU, like Texas A&M started out as a Military Academy, first president was Gen. William T. Sherman (yes the Union General who torched South Carolina and North Georgia).

LSU and Texas A&M first played in 1899 and played several other times before 1910. LSU was set to become a founding member of the SWC, went to the organization meetings, but the Texas dominance and the fact that there were too many Texas schools and LSU, Ole Miss and OU being the only non-Texas schools resulted in LSU staying in the SIAA. Still, LSU and Texas A&m even before Texas A&M joined the SEC, the 2 schools had played 50 times. As a child, I am 53, LSU and Texas A&M was legitimately LSU's top 3 rivals (the other 2 in-state Tulane and back then Ole Miss).

In 1990, LSU entertained the SWC Presidents from several schools, and Texas A&M was I think part of it as LSU was playing Texas A&M at the time, LSU no longer played Rice, and LSU wanted to maintain playing in the Houston area as it had since football was started. The SEC went to LSU and told them that they were working on expansion and Texas and Texas A&M were the targets. So LSU, I think Bud Davis was President, decided to stay in the SEC. Well we all know what happened, Texas Politics prevented Texas A&M for leaving (they wanted to), Texas sort of balked and then that further prevented both Texas Schools from leaving and Arkansas smartly said to hell with the SWC and joined. I don't blame them. They have been a good member of the SEC.

Now, No LSU fans liked LSU having to play Arkansas on the Friday after Thanksgiving as the League sort of forced that game on us, LSU had to give up its in-state game with Tulane (edit here, it had to moved around to other dates on the schedule) which was always played the Saturday after Thanksgiving, etc, and that lead to all other sorts of issues with scheduling. But LSU's administration and fans wanting Texas A&M to be kicked out of the SEC First off is not true and 2nd no ONE school has the authority to kick any other school out. That includes Alabama, which btw, did not form the SEC.

More to the point, The SIAA, which first included Bama, Auburn, UGA, Sewanee and Vandy in 1895 followed in 1896 by LSU, GA. Tech, TENN, Tulane, Texas, Miss. State, UK, Clemson and then Ole Miss in 1897 was the predecessor to the Southern Conference. By 1920 it had like 30 or so members. Scheduling conflicts, scholarship issues, freshman eligibility, etc to the Southern Conference being formed in 1921, Alabama was charter member along with 13 other schools. LSU, Florida, Vandy, Ole Miss, etc joined the next year and the league grew to 23 teams. In 1932, 13 teams formed the SEC, 7 went to form the ACC (South Carolina was one of them), Va. Tech went independent, now ACC and the other 2 are Div. 2 (VMI, Wash and Lee).

I will not do a full history of the SEC but Alabama, along with LSU, Auburn, TENN, UGA, Vandy, Ole Miss, MISS. State, UK, Florida (all Current members) were all founding members of the SEC. 3 others, Tulane, GA. Tech and Sewanee (all part of the Southern Conference as well) were the other 3.
