Re the money it would take, if M.Greenberg @ M&M gets $2M a yr for a 4 hr morning talk show, what do you think Gruden is getting for being the co-host for the most prestigious job in football announcing? I cann't see $6M-$7M a yr being too big a stretch. In addition, it's safe to assume that Gruden has outside income as well. All of which he would have to give up, from a time perspective if for no other reason. So, the hawgs would have to beat a TON of money. I don't care who the moneybags are at Arkansas, that is a lot of cash.

I got to thinking, yeah I do not think Gruden is worth 6 million dollars making him higher paid than Saban. Gruden is not a project though you know when he comes in that he will automatically make the program better and the 24/7 coverage on ESPN makes a huge difference in recruiting. There is more upside to Gruden then any other coach we could hire.

With that said I still think we go the mid major coordinator route somewhere in the 3 million + or - range.

IF.... for some crazy reason John Daley talked Gruden into coming here, i think paying him 8 million would still reap rewards, you got to spend money to make money, the interest in the program alone with him here would be worth it. i got $5 on it

Just because he's a known name doesn't necessarily make him the right coach for Arkansas right now. Based on our current needs - what does he really bring to the table?

There is no doubt he would recruit better, but I'm not sold that he would provide the necessary ROI on 6 mil. If he would come for around 4/4.5 mil, he's worth a look.

Can not believe I bought into the excitement there for a second, LOL. Yeah that place is funny and then when credible mods buy into it, it makes them less credible in the future.

What a joke.......

How can you be sure Gruden would be a good recruiter?

I happen to think that after the first year bump he would falter on the recruiting front. He's not exactly sane.

I think he's a big risk for Arky but I'm not making the decision. If it were up to me you'd have Zook.

Only in that he is a known name. Gruden showing up to talk to a 17 year old and his family would have to carry some impact. I just don't think he's a good fit for our needs - but I'm not making the decision either.

A Superbowl, the most knowledgeable analyst on ESPN and the most complete video library out of any of the coaches. Did you know that current college/ NFL coaches and players come to him for advice? If Gruden was to come to Arkansas then he would automatically make us a top 5 program. It is/ would be a win win which is probably why he is considering and/ or had talks with us.

Maybe not, but I'd be pretty confident. I'd love to see Gruden in Knoxville next year.

This is what I don't understand, though. Why would he go to Arkansas? I think he's more likely to coach in the NFL. If he's going to coach in college, find it very unlikely he would go to Arkansas over Tennessee.

Yeah that is why this hire is so important, Arkansas its brand and image has improved on the national scale. We make the right hire then we are right back where Petrino had us, maybe we win that BCS bowl this time.

Damn, if only he had any connection to Tennessee as strong as that.

I know that wasn't a serious post, though.
