CBS's Top 10 List for CFB speedsters
From the article:
"Luckily, we have an accurate standard by which to measure speed. It's called Fully Automatic Time, or FAT. This electronic timing method has been required in track for record purposes since 1977. No track time is officially counted as a record -- whether on a personal or world level -- that is not recorded with FAT. Furthermore, the governing bodies of track and field require wind readings and standardized running surfaces at sanctioned track events. The goal is to create uniform conditions so that times all over the world can be compared and contrasted with confidence."
"So this is really a list of the players in college football who are quantifiably the fastest. Could there be players not on this list who are faster in reality? Sure, but without valid track marks you won't be able to make that case, save with anecdotal evidence."
4. Jeryl Brazil, CB, Freshman, LSU -- 6.22 (55m), 6.70 (60m), 10.36 (100m)
The four-star athlete out of Loranger, La., will play cornerback for LSU. He ran just one 100-meter race as a senior, which means makes his 10.36 run as a junior all the more impressive. There's certainly a chance that, given his trajectory, he'd prove to be as fast as anyone on this list if he had run more races his senior season.
10. Damiere Byrd, WR, Junior, South Carolina -- 6.24 (55m), 6.66 (60m), 10.41 (100m), 21.21 (200m)
Byrd emerged as a bit of a playmaker for the Gamecocks in 2012, catching 14 passes for 366 yards (26.14 per catch) and three touchdowns. He's run a bit of track in college, too, and his 6.66 in the 60 meters shows he's got one of the best bursts around.

Brazil will make an immediate impact for us IMO. He has great ball skills along with that Trendon Holliday speed. Going to be a fun one to watch

Yeah
He's basically Holliday but an actual football player

Exactly. He has size to him with that kind of speed. Going to be hard to keep him off the field this year for sure

I expect Kailo Moore to be on that list next year

He's not as fast as Holliday I don't think, nor does he have that ridiculous change of direction burst that Holliday had because he was 5'5" 160 lbs
But yeah he's super fast and should make an impact right away. The fact he can take and deliver contact with that kind of speed is deadly.

How do they leave off Justin Scott-Weslty? At the very least he should be on the "Just missed" list.
6.75 (60m)
10.4 (100m)

Didn't he break some of Holliday's records in high school?

Brazil broke the 55m record with 6.25. Holliday had 6.27.

Sylve is faster than byrd

Interesting list.
I'd love to see the top 10 defensive linemen in terms of speed - I bet that list would have a distinctively "SEC" flavor to it.

Speed does not always mean a great player.
We had Leonard Scott at a time when there were literally only about 3 people on planet Earth that were as fast as him.
World class speed, great team player, nice guy, and couldn't catch a cold butt naked in Alaska.

Yeah, he's not on the list because he's still in HS but because his state run wasn't very good. That's how they are evaluating the kids out of HS like Brazil and Kailo. Kailo is faster than Brazil and you're right, he will be in the list next year.

So you say.
Link?
While we wait for you to provide proof, which will never come, I'd like to add for the sake of conversation that Byrd had off-season eye surgery to correct a serious vision problem that should make him far more of a threat this coming season than last.
His other issue is that he tends to outrun our QBs' arms at times. But no one can cover him man-up deep. The kid is fearless though.
Anyways, we're waiting ....
