I wish you could and would take that joke of a university out of OUR STATE. It has been nothing but an embarrassment to OUR STATE since it was created. If you and your Bears are embarrassed to represent OUR STATE get out and don't come back because the feeling is mutual !!!!!!!!

Part of going to Ole Miss is lying about Ole Miss. Constantly.

You mean Ole Miss isn't the Harvard of the South, and they don't have numerous National Championships in football? Darn you Rebel liars!

In North Georgia, I would have to say Mizz or TAM but for the real SEC teams, it would be Arkansas

A. This story is complete bullshite, or B. Your homer levels are so high that you try to make the case that OM has same national appeal as Alabama. Keep chasing that relevance brother.

Honestly, and I know quite a few dozen of them, but the furthest MSU alumni I know personally lives in Atlanta. Almost all the rest either live in MS or Memphis. I'd say about a third of my friends from Ole Miss live in MS right now, almost all of which live in the Jackson Metro area. The vast majority are in Memphis, Nashville, Dallas, Atlanta, DC, NOLA, or NYC. State fans certainly don't leave their own State much at all compared to most other fanbases. I guess Georgia and maybe Florida don't leave their state all that much either though.

I too am surprised by how many "most represented" lists OM is on. It's the 2nd smallest school in the SEC so what gives? Do their fans buy lots of t-shirts, bumper stickers or other items, inflating their numbers? What gives?

I think most Ole Miss fans realize that Mississippi has a shitty job market, and try to get the hell out of there as soon as they graduate. Plus the fact that we have the highest percentage of out-of-state students any other SEC school (save Vandy), then it makes a basic perfect storm of spreading your alumni out across the nation as much as possible.

Other than of course Georgia then, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, SC, Tennessee and LSU, none of the other SEC schools appear to be represented in our area. I see Clemson tags, stickers, etc. fairly often also.

Keep the shitty state. I really don't give a frick, since I'm largely over the state, as is most of the alumni. We like to go to such exotic locations like Nashville, DC, and Dallas, ie: non-shitholes. Enjoy your crowning jewel of Jackson MS.

This isn't a troll but wouldn't it be a good thing for most MSU graduates stay in Mississippi if Ole Miss alumni aren't? Isn't Ole Miss the flagship institution of MS? Flagship Universities typically receive the most state funding and are responsible to meet the environmental, social, economic, scientific, & educational challenges that confront that state (Mississippi).

Don't get me wrong, out of state alumni are great and play a major part in alumni networking but I'm not sure how it's a great thing to have more out of state alumni than in-state alumni when you are a state's flagship university.

That is a valid point, and mine wasn't a troll either, for me personally though, Mississippi isn't a desirable state to live in. I have no desire to return there, aside from Oxford and Tunica. I think a large portion of my fanbase feels the same. So there's a valid point that its nice to have at least one university stepping in and holding down the fort. It could benefit your school and maybe even state in the long term.

It's weird, In arkansas I see LSU fans all the time, Tennesse fans regularly and that's pretty much it. I don't think I've ever personally met a Mississippi State fan and it's like 3 hours away.

assuming you live in west memphis or at least near it. there are a lot of LSU fans in the memphis area, so it makes sense. is surprising you don't see state fans much because there's plenty right across the river

Florida grads are everywhere in Atlanta. Also, both schools are at the top academically outside vandy in the sec. i'm sure there are plenty of georgia and florida people in all of those cities you named outside memphis and new orleans

A lot of MSU grads living out of state as well. Don't kid yourself. The notion that OM is some sort of big nationally recognized school with huge numbers of grads everywhere has been GREATLY exaggerated on here. That also goes for some of the other fanbase homers in this thread too. I've lived in southern California and in North Carolina and never once met an OM grad or saw anything indicating a fan. I know OM and MSU have alumni chapters from coast to coast and MSU even has one in Seoul, South Korea, but I'm not going to make false claims that State is a global or big nationally recognized school. It's like Ole Miss.
