The last I heard he told him not to. If you got a link that shows where it came from Lattimore's mouth that he invited Mack to attend, I'd appreciate it, because I don't waste my money on insider articles.

Spurrier got the last in-home visit.
What else could Spurrier say at an in home? Cock fans have been saying he's 100% lock to them, but just hours after his official he names AU as his leader?
If he wasnt convinced immediately after his official, I doubt an in home can change anything.

That was 2 weeks ago. Ever changed your mind? Happen to me once.

I thought Lattimore named Auburn his leader a long time ago.

Would not be surprised if Trooper Taylor's shenanigans with Mack (getting him to lie to the USC coaches about being solid to USC with a planned switch to Auburn on NSD) closed the door on Auburn for Lattimore.

I agree whole heartedly, he is the first kid to ever switch schools. I just cant believe that he waited to NSD to make the planned switch and not commit to Auburn earlier.

Are you guys that dumb or just pretending?
Mack himself has since said he has been all-Auburn since September and was planning on pulling the switch on NSD. And he was feeding confidential information to Trooper Taylor and recruiting against us all the time.
Our coaches had reservations about Mack's character -- not talent -- for many months. They did not think they could pull his offer because of the relationship with the high school coaches and because of the bad publicity that would ensue (remember we got roasted for pulling on offer to a Georgia linebacker last year whom Ron Cooper had offered contrary to Spurrier's orders).
Then Mack showed out on his OV. He was texting while Jeri Spurrier was addressing the team (texting Trooper?). At his meeting with Spurrier in Spurrier's office, Mack took a call on his cellphone and carried on a conversation. Those are the incidents which became public-- but there apparently were more. Obviously he didn't feel the need to behave because he was playing a game all along.
After the OV, he had a phone conversation with new o-line coach Shawn Elliot. Elliot called him out for his antics as well as showing up at 346 pounds and out of shape. Right after that conversation, Mack figured the gig was up and made his "switch" to Auburn public.
Trooper Taylor obviously knew this was going on the whole time -- and probably orchestrated it. Consider that the Rivals Auburn Hot Board had Mack 75% to Auburn even after he publicly announced after his OV that his commitment to USC was firm and that Auburn was out of it.
This was not a last minute switch a la Carlos Dunlap. Those situations are frustrating but are a legitimate part of recruiting.

So why would Trooper Taylor want Mack to hold out on his commitment to AU? An early commitment to AU could have only helped with Lattimore.. This conspiracy makes no sense..

that doesn't matter... they've got to rationalize this anyway they can. IMO, had USC's OL coach not left a month or so ago, Mack would still be committed.... that doesn't quite fit in the conspiracy either.

From the Orangeburg Times & Democrat (January 20, 2010):
"Mack initially committed to the Gamecocks last July just before Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s A.J. Cann announced he would attend the school. But, the 6-5, 305-pound T&D All-Area first-team selection admits that he made his decision to decommit from the Gamecocks after his official visit to Auburn in September despite the fact that, Friday, Mack told The Times and Democrat he remained committed to South Carolina."
No question Mack was lying to the press and USC's coaches. I suppose it's possible that Trooper did not orchestrate it, but at the least he condoned it. No question he knew it the whole time. Trooper is Jeffrey Lee's deep throat -- and Lee had Mack at 75% the whole time even after Mack restated his USC commitment a couple of days before his press-conference.
As to why, who knows? Trooper is an old hand at this recruiting game. He doesn't do anything by accident. Maybe getting the inside info was more important to him. Maybe he wanted late momentum.
FWIW, Lattimore and Mack barely know each other. Mack's little Ryan Perriloux game is not something Lattimore would pull. Lattimore may commit to Auburn; he may not. The point of my post is that Lattimore will not be impressed by the games Mack and Trooper played -- particularly punking the school that is Lattimore's longtime favorite.
