I believe the AP clowns decided to gift Saban a 68th B-day present giving them # 1 ranking in October 2019 after a cupcake schedule.
Obviously they were so Overrated after that 44-16 bull whipping at the hands of Dabo, Venables & Clemson. Tua just plain Quit. Watch the replay and see Brittle Tua quit and embarrass the SEC. It was the worst moment in SEC recent history and memory.
The Gumps, irrelevant since the Tua Hail Mary that beat GA, are always taking shots at GA and beating GA ain’t no big deal.
I pray they’re ranked high again coming into our house Nov 7 for their 60 minute @$$ beating with Joker Jones and a one trick pony Najee Harris.
In a final note on the Gumps, they ran up the Michigan score in an embarrassing display when they should have showed Class like LSU taking a knee on Clemson’s 3 yard line.
To rank Alabama anywhere in the Top 5 in Oct 2019 was ridiculous as OSU beat Mich 56-27. Alabama ran up a late score to end it at 35-16 over a Michigan team that kept it close. After 3 quarters, it was 21-16 Bama
After three quarters, OSU led Mich 42-19.
Bama was no longer elite in 2019, and the decline is picking up speed now!

This is correct. I was wrong on the year. My apologies. I feel bad when give out false info on here.
Thanks for the correction.
Just out of curiosity, did you remember that or have to look it up? Doesn’t matter either way, just wondering. I was going off bad memory.

I knew it from memory. I knew Colorado was the team that first beat the Aggies. I was on a private bus going back to Chicago from South Bend, Indiana, from the Texas-Notre Dame game earlier that day, and I recall a certain gentleman had a handheld TV that was the rage then and we all kept close tabs and were glad that A&M lost (I know, I know). It seemed to salve our own loss that day.
I was one of the people who went on the Kyle Field turf at the south end zone after the Texas game that year when fights broke out between Texas fans and Corps members. I mean there were punches flying. I seem to recall sticking close to a Texas lineman for protection (haha). I can’t remember his name right now. It was really dumb.

That’s an awesome story. And great memory too. Thanks for sharing.
And for correcting my error too.

I remember the 1996 game against USL. I was listening to the radio with my Aggie brother in Houston and every time Branndon Stewart threw an interception (there were several), Dave South would just go quiet while you heard cheering and he’d mutter,”Did he do it again? He did it again.”
I remember your win over Kansas State in 1998 that won the conference title and knocked them out of the national championship (they were No. 2). When you scored your winning touchdown, my highly intoxicated Aggie brother took off all his clothes and ran down the street, screaming. I kid you not.

Haha that’s awesome. You have some great stories.
That 1998 championship game is probably the best game of my life. We were in Boerne. Fair Oaks. UCLA had upset The U that same afternoon which guaranteed K State a spot in Natty game if they won and they were up big. And we had our chubby punter Shane Lechler warming up on the sideline as backup qb when Stewart got banged up. Things couldn’t have been looking worse.
Unlike yall, seldom does anything go our way in big time games, but then Bishop fumbles trying to run out the clock and we score quick. We had to convert that 2 pt conversion to force OT. I didn’t think we’d do it. Lots of timeouts, lots of waiting and worrying. When we did it, I jumped up and slammed my ring hand through a chandelier shattering thousands of tiny shards of glass all over the room, including all over two of my Aggie buddies laying on separate couches. Only thing that saved my fingers from being severed off was my Aggie ring. It’s still flattened on one side to this day.. My pinky finger hit it first and that broke instantly, along with two knuckles that still have never recovered. But the ring saved everything else.
Anyway, a former Baylor cheerleader gets me a towel so can wrap my hand to slow the gushing blood. No chance in hell was going to emergency room. I’d rather die of blood loss than miss OT. My two buddies on the couches couldn’t move cuz all the glass on them and they couldn’t have cared less. We were in OT.
Then quickly back in a hole.. 3rd and 17, basically out of FG range due to penalties, and Stewart hits Parker on that quick slant and the rest is history.
I’m not sure I’ll live to see a more gratifying win than that one. Even if we were to win a Natty in my lifetime, not sure it would compare to the feeling of beating K State that night. Sometimes the stars just line up.

Of those teams ranked #1, I'd be interested to know what year they were ranked #1 prior?
Also, who is all-time in #1 rankings?
