I don't think it necessarily means that Golding will be the actual coach next season.
I haven't seen the interm tag used anywhere.

I’m not sure the flyer that’s out there that we should take. They’d likely be coordinators, which is who we’re hiring anyways. Granted, it’s a coordinator who has said repeatedly that he doesn’t want to be a head coach, but I’m just not sure who is available.

Yes, that's what I mean. They're calling him "permanent" for that reason.

But "permanent" can last for one month, until the CFPs are over.

It doesn't mean 10 years.

Including naming Golding head coach Sunday which opens the portal Friday for any player wanting to transfer. There's a reason programs use the interm title until the season is over, even if the new head coach is already on staff.

This isnt true. The 5 days after a coach portal window isn't starting until Jan 2nd.
On3 explanation

For example, if a college football program hires a new head coach on Nov. 25, the portal would not open until Jan. 2. But if a program makes a coaching change in the spring and hires a new head coach, players will not have to wait as long as the hire is made before June 30.

You know I obviously don't typically agree with an LSU supporter but in my estimation this is correct. I support Keith Carter. I believe he did as any AD would have done given the situation that presented him. However, allowing Charlie Weis to come back after accepting a position at LSU is not the correct thing to do. If this "special season" goes down let it go down with the fact that the HC left a playoff team for the possibility of a playoff team down the road. Ole Miss shouldn't allow a coach that has signed with a rival to coach.
