I think Bama will take a step back on D but this just means top 10 nationally.

Only top 10? Bama was a top 5 defense in 2010 after losing nine starters and also played against a much tougher schedule in 2010 than they will in 2012. They'll be top 5 if not top 3 this year.

Okay, top 3 or 5 then. My basic point was not 2011 good.

Wait, I thought 2010 had nothing to do with 2012.

Tennessee did win a NC in 98. I tried to put all the NC's in the winners section.

Why is this fact relevant to how Alabama will do this year? The 2010 and 2012 teams have little in common.

I didn't say it was. I was just clarifying what the article said. I'm with you I think it no bearing on this year. I do think your D will drop a little. Maybe only second best in the SEC. (sorry homer moment there)

Is that article a sample of how the media in the Midwest covers football?

Could have a BCS/ATL winners division. USC/Hogs can have a death match to see who gets 7th spot.

They don't but 2010 was about as bad as it could be on defense losing nine defensive starters, starting a number of freshmen and sophomores on defense, playing against very good offensive teams like Auburn, USC, and Arkansas, and they still finished in the top 5. I'm just saying that 2010 was the absolute worst case scenario and they still had a top 5 defense. Saying a Saban-coached defense might be top 10 is greatly underestimating them.

Just needed clarification. You said it didn't matter. Then you used it to refute another poster and prove that Alabama will be good on defense.

LSU will be damn scary good this season. Alabama will be great.. but probably a little bit better version of the 2010 team.

LSU will be a lot like the 2011 team but with a quarterback. Dominant.

1. I didn't say 'might be'...you put that in there.
2. Since when is top 10 'underestimating'
3. This is why coaches say "I've done enough, I've had enough, adios."

but with a quarterback

I can't wait. If it wasn't for being a Saints fan too, I might of forgotten what that was like.
Curse the QB on Saturdays. Curse the defense on Sundays

Looks right to me (although I'd have UT above Mizzou).

I think So Car could finish lower actually. They lost some good talent in the draft. Shaw should be solid, but I think Fla could be better than expected.

How about "Winners" and "Losers"

Losers:
Arkansas
Miss State
Vandy
Kentucky
OM
Mizzou
Texas A&M

State would finish at least 3rd in our division and beat more than just Ole Miss. Yessss!
