So if the SEC or NCAA has not made a decision on them, there is talks it will be up to Alabama to decide if they play or not in the opener. If they do play, and they find out they are ineligible after the fact, this would be considered an NCAA infraction against Bama, which is bad news considering they are on probation. They said there might be a decision on the case before the opener so Bama would not have to make the decision.

What do you Bama fans think? Do you play them or not?

If there is no decision before the VT game i would not play them.(considering our history with the NCAA). All in dications are that we will know something before that game,so we shall see..

I don't think you can if it is still up in the air. But still think we win even if they don't play.

I think they will be fine unless the NCAA wants to stick it to Bama again.

Bamasession...

But to answer the question, I don't think we would. But I highly doubt this even makes it to the NCAA, I have a feeling the SEC will rule on this and rule before the game. The SEC doesn't want to see Julio Jones on the bench in the nationally televised Chick-fi-la big Kickoff Classic. Bad for business.

Wow. I don't know about that. I know VT has some guys missing too, but there seems to be an overabundance of confidence concerning this game.

Reminds me of another game, played in a dome, just about 7 1/2 months ago....

IMO,Virginia Tech would win in that case comfortably.

With that said,I can't imagine them being held out and can't imagine the NCAA requiring it. There may be the symbolic "one play" like Auburn did in 1987 for Jeff Burger vs Florida after a hunting trip with his roommate.

I'm sure the SEC wants this handled with speed, but I don't know if it really has anything to do with the players being Julio Jones and Mark Ingram. I can guarantee you ESPN/ABC want Jones and Ingram to play.

The NCAA will likely make a decision before the first game. We had the same type of deal back in 2002 with Kevin Fant. He ultimately had to sit the opener against Oregon though.

You folks really think you'll beat Virginia Tech if those two don't play ? With the hoopla and circus atmosphere that would transpire ? Just losing that nutcase Andre Smith seemed to put Alabama in a funk for Utah.

I am under the impression that it has been sent to the SEC. If they decide it needs to be sent to the NCAA they will.

Am i off base?

that is correct. There is a new article about it at al.com if you want to read it or you can just wait for alahunter to plagiarize it here.

I don't know if this helps or not, but here is an article published on the Tuscaloosa News website on the 24th.

You won't win by the 21 i'm expecting but you'd win by 10.
