Pretty rich for someone who’s job is to generate attention.

So, it turns out Ole Miss was full of shite about the dog too?

You're the only Ole Miss fan here that's just rolling with it.
Lane is just trolling. The real story is that he had the dog but he was never home because he's an SEC football coach and there was noone else there. The dog acted out and tore stuff up. Lane took him for training at the kennel but just decided that the dog was happier living there than being left alone due to the demands of his job.
Lane had the dog brought to the office at times and they had trained him to due stuff like pick up the tee. He also liked to get the dog often. The worst part was that Lane probably did use the dog as a prop with the ladies at times but it was nothing more than that (I personally don't blame him). Anyway, they kept the PR stuff going as it was still technically Lane's dog AFAIK. The people at Wildrose were happy to take care of him as Lane had paid for everything and the dog was happy.
That said, there was no reason to involve the dog in the fiasco to BR.
Lane always owned the X/Twitter handle. He got ripped for not actually "owning" the dog (but he did).
Lane will probably formally give him to the caretakers. I have no idea if he'll give over the X/Twitter handle as well.
While this has blown up on social media, it wasn't about him having a "fake dog" for PR purposes or Ole Miss faking it or him abandoning the dog. He simply just recognized that he was a one person household and he was far too busy to be able to take care of the dog most of the time...so the dog eventually lived at Wildrose Kennels.
This is funny as frick but it's not really a scandal. Juice is happy where he is.
Also, I'd like to take the best interest of the dog into account- which is that he's happy where he is- and he's a dog so he has zero idea that he's being used as a prop in a PR war- so we shouldn't be shaming LK into uprooting the dog.
Lane can be a supervillain without this fake narrative.

Hence the "personally I don't blame him" part.
The dog is happy where he is- which is largely where he's lived for the past 2 years. The dog has no idea that he's such a big deal- lol. No scandal really.
Noone started out with the intent to lie about him having a dog. Lane did the best thing for the dog. SEC football coaches who are single don't have time to take care of a dog. That's all there is to it.
