The sports journalism industry actively rewards this behavior. Tess, McDonough, Gus Johnson, Stephen A...this list goes on.

For a while now, I've been muting most of the announcers most of the time. If there's a stoppage in play due to a review or penalty, I'll unmute to get the lowdown. Otherwise, there is way too much rambling about nothing and, as mentioned in the thread, outright hysteria. Play-by-play team announcers are famous for screaming and pushing the decibel level. The six-figure talking heads should be calmer and more objective, but some aren't.

Beth Mowens sounds exactly like a woman trying to imitate the worst broadcasting techniques of men. At any rate, I mostly mute them all. It's no different from watching a game in the stands without the irritating crowd noise.
