Why?

He's even more Yankee than a Mizzou fan. A Boston College grad. At least Finescum, Tebow and Spears are SEC fellows.

Why was he selected for the SECN? Is he good in the booth. I don't recall seeing him broadcasting even though I've heard the name from time to time.

I wonder whatever happened to Ron Franklin? He disappeared from ESPN after some sexist remark in an internal meeting I know that, but the guy was GREAT.

Ole Miss graduate too as I recall.

Ron will never work for ESPN again.

quote:

He was employed by ESPN from 1987 to 2011. He was fired by ESPN on January 4, 2011, after making sexist comments to a colleague.[1] Franklin brought a wrongful termination suit[2] against his former employer, alleging breach of contract by ESPN. The parties settled out of court.[3]

Ron Franklin is ,imo, the greatest of my era. He'd probably tell ESPN to kiss his arse though, if they came calling.

Tessitore is a quality host and decent play by play. With all the inexperienced analysts they needed somebody to keep them focused.

I was going to say it was Edwards. Honestly, he deserved it. It's awfully condescending to tell a female co-worker to "leave it to the men sweet baby" and it wasn't the first incident for him at ESPN.

His first incident was with Holly Rowe. That's what i was thinking of. Holly Rowe and Shelly Smith are the same person to me.

Wait. A. Minute! ESPN actually put a professional broadcaster on the SEC Network to help balance out all the newbs with SEC ties? What were they thinking?

Joe is really good in the booth. I think he will do fine and I personally enjoy his play by play. No problem there. Certainly always liked Ron Franklin and he's one of the best but after learning from the posts above that he and ESPN settled out of court , then yea, I dont think he will be back with ESPN. Let's Geaux Joe.

Has that changed?
