Yet their defensive backfield has been rated 100+ for years. A typical Texas team to be sure

Wasted talent

Pass defense by year (with ranking)
2019 125
2018 110
2017 109
2016 105
2015 74

2015 was the last time they finished above 100th.

Recruiting results:
2018 - 5* (2) / 4* (4)
2017 - 5* (0) / 4* (1)
2016 - 5* (0) / 4* (2)
2015 - 5* (0) / 4* (4)

Current roster:

Starters:
CB - SO Koby Boyce - 3*
CB - SO Jalen Green - 4*
SS - SO Caden Sterns - 5*
FS - SR Brandon Jones - 4*
NB - JR Josh Thompson - 4*

Only reason for such abysmal performance with that talent must be the worst DC in college football.

What exactly about Texas makes them not a good team?

It’s akin to them bringing Fornette stats against bad run defenses vs Henry

Burro has to play the whole game because their D is bad

Find how many teams have 13 four or five star DB’s in their secondary?

quote:

Pass defense by year (with ranking)

Completely based on conference.

8 teams in the Big 12 ranked outside of the Top 80 in pass defense. Meanwhile most of the Big 10 was in the Top 50 pass defenses.

One conference is built around the pass, one isn’t. The Big 12 had 5 of the top 20 passing offenses in college football last year.

I feel a better way to represent teams in college football is on a per play basis - largely because of the different offensive schemes utilized throughout the country.

Perhaps in this case, I'd go with yards per pass attempt. I believe Texas is likely JUST below the national mean in that area. Which, of course, isn't as bad as being one of the bottom 20 teams in the nation. It would put them right about 70-ish.

But these are his most recent stats vs Bama.

But yeah he is playing much much better so far this season. I joke around but you guys have a solid QB. Going to be a fun game this year.

So when you take out Burrow’s absurd 12.1 YPA, Texas is 65th thus far. Not terrible under Todd Orlando. Middle of the road in FBS. Certainly not worst in the nation.

Think you posted this in the wrong thread, boss.

You may be looking for the thread titled

Alabama should NEVER lose a game to a college team with 56 NFL players having been rostered by them... double that of the team that defeated them by a wide margin 8 months ago

It may be on page 3 now, though.
