I always thought that Miami was Financial Aid office and at Carolina it was John Blake who made promises and Butch took the fall for Blake because he knew.

maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't there also academic cheating involving Davis' live in nanny who was also an athletic department tutor?

Wait Miami was already in trouble. It was under Ericson's watch the fraud and academic stuff happened. It was his watch at UNC

Understood there seems to be too much smoke surrounding Davis to be hired at the point, at this school under these circumstances

It's Johnson's gig if Petrino is pink slipped. Then in December they'll open it up. That is my guess, but who knows.

Awesome. From a small legal contractual battle to taking on a walking NCAA violation. This is just a shitty idea all around.

shite like this is why we are willing to forgive a little martial frick up. Our athletic department stumbled arse backwards into petrino... if we fire him and go back to the list of coaches from before then we are fricked. Jim Grobe could end up being our coach if we aren't careful.

Any Arky's hearing this? What type of pull does Jerry have?

I'm hearing the Arky boosters are having secret discussions with the up-and-coming Jacksonville State head coach.

Who are those individuals?

Skip Holtz, Tommy Tubberville, Gus Malzahn, and Art Briles are all I've heard for sure. In talking with some coaches tonight most think it's safe to assume that McGhee was waiting to see before he called whereas the others reached out prior to news being official.

Also, an agent friend of mine said he has a client (NFL position coach) who said and NFL OC has reached out to Arky, but I haven't heard back who it is yet.

Arky could hire from outside right now if they wanted. No doubt.

Jerry Jones does not have a powerful voice with Long or the Board of Trustees. He had more pull when daddy Frank was the AD.

It is also well known that Jerry is crazier than a shite-house rat.

I think Davis has too much baggage to be a leading candidate. I have alot of respect for AD Long, but I am concerned that his "big hires" have been luck. I am sure he will do what is nessasary to find a good coach. I hope he does not frick it up.

A lot of truth in this statement.

The Malazahn camp was all "giddy" over the weekend...

Davis is clean as far as the NCAA is concerned as well...
