If you scroll down in the comments there is another video of him hitting the guy taking that video. Again, it wasn't a full on punch but it made the phone shake and everyone around moved back from Burton. I'd bet that was right before the video in the OP because there was a decent cushion around Burton at the start of the original video.
Not a good look at all.

I think we should approach it as if it were a tort case. Should she have been on the field? Debatable.
Is there a reasonable expectation that getting on the field will result in a player willfully hitting you in the head? Absolutely not. And if you say yes then you're saying that it's not atypical for the players to act this way after taking an L.
Interesting I guess. But is it a reasonable expectation that you will at some point be met with force for being on the field? For example, someone who streaks on the field is often met with a good bit of physical force.
Where is the line and how much force is acceptable?
For the record, I don't think there is any excuse for hitting her if he did. I'm just questioning the line of reasoning. If what he did was actually a hit, it was not in self defense, but rather a response etc and I don't see where it's really excusable.

You can’t admit she put herself at risk. I can admit burton is A POS.
That’s the difference between a poster who sucks at reading, as you are proving, and a reasonable person.
There's a stickied thread on the OT right now about a girl who was shot to death in her car. It fits all the descriptors you have for how it was her fault: early in the morning, not so great area of town, shouldn't have let herself be stopped by a train, shouldn't have been eating french fries and instead watching her six with her head on a swivel. Go in there and post your same "take all responsibility" hot take to all those dumbass millenials.
You won't.

You just might be the dumbest individual to ever post.

She should expect to crowds pushing, people tripping, bumping into you pretty hard, shoving, etc. But again, willfully hitting someone in the head is malicious behavior not associated with crowd movement.

Then at what point is it acceptable for a fan to pull out a shiv and stick it between the players ribs ? Since, after all, a certain amount of force is now acceptable. And we're talking about great big ball players with armor.
Or, again, is the ball-field "holy ground" ? Only to be trod upon by those blessed and sanctified to do so ?

Streakers get hit pretty hard sometimes. Do mass violations change the circumstances of what is reasonable to expect?
AKA, if I step onto a top secret military base, I can reasonably expect to be arrested or shot. But if I step onto a top secret military base with 500 other people, does that mean it's reasonable for me to expect lesser treatment?

Is this the other angle? She runs up to him with phone in hand, and he reaches out and smacks it… therefore explaining her “Wtf” reaction, and not her “OMG I was just assaulted reaction?

That's someone else. That one is not a big deal IMO.
The other one is more of a big deal because whatever he did, it was done after she was moving away(which is also why I think he just reached out, rather than hit, she was behind him). He's not protecting his space or anything in that case.
