quote:Here is the real answer people don't talk about. The assistant coaches wanted to play Simpson, but Milroe had most the players on his side because of race and massive public opinion push to play him. Saban was too scared he would lose the team so he ignored the assistant coaches and played Milroe. In spite of Milroe's weaknesses, Bama found a way to squeak by a bad auburn team to get into the play-offs and eventually lose. Simpson now is the better QB with a higher ceiling and both QBs had to learn a new offense with new coaches so they are on equal footing. OBrian was correct when he told Milroe to switch positions. That is where the LANK BS started.
Then why didn't he start last year?

This, friendly reminder that Saban benched him for a guy that doesn’t even play football anymore.
Actually....Buchner is playing football. He's a walk on receiver at ND

That's what I figured.

Of course he doesn't listen because if he did he would have changed positions by now. Milroe seems like a nice guy; but behind that is a very manipulative individual trying to pull every political string he can to be the starter. That why is is mugging for the camera at every public venue he can get.
What the frick are you talking about?

I guess this means we have to rely on your imagination instead.

Then why didn't Simpson show it when he played against USF?
It's not like he wasn't given a chance. He played more than half the game and ended with a QBR of 15.1 and less than 100 yards.
The last drive Alabama drove 81 yards in 11 plays and featured 0 passes.
He was sacked over and over. 5 times for 32 yards.
I prefer a QB like Simpson over a "dual threat", but I have no idea what in the world you are smoking.

So you judge Simpson on one game? Based on the A-day game Simpson should definitely be the starter then. Simpson has yet to be given a fair and equal shot at the starting job like Milroe has been.

He was given an opportunity against a team he should have dismantled easily.
I have no response to the retarded idea that A-day games mean something.

If you think 1 game is enough to be given a fair chance you are retarded. By the way, Simpson had to split time with Tyler Buchner so he wasn't even given a full game.

Do you think that Simpson would have stuck around the last two years if he himself thought that he wasn't getting a fair and equal opportunity to be the starter? In the age of NIL and the transfer portal where players are jumping ship if they aren't getting snaps as true freshman?

The only reason he stayed was because there was a coaching change. Deboer promised him a fair shot. There is a lot of politics going on behind the scenes. Deboer is having to tread very carefully to show he is being completely fair because there is going to be some backlash this fall when Simpson is the starter. Especially amongst the team.

So you think that Simpson wasn’t allowed to practice and compete against Milroe in spring and fall camps?
And how many games is enough? Milroe was the starter for only two games before he was benched. Both Buchner and Simpson were given a very fair chance against a G5 team. And neither did squat. I think that Saban did that as much to shut up idiot fans clamoring for a QB change as anything. It didn’t work with you obviously.

Bro-he said that he was staying at Bama before Saban retired. I know that you have your mind made up, but at least give us some kind of coherent argument as to why you believe the things that you do.

He was given more than a half.
That's more than most backup QB's ever get in a season unless injuries have happened.

We are all just wasting our time. Last year Opry’s narrative was that Simpson just needed a chance to show he was the better quarterback. He got a shot and showed he in fact is not. So Opry has changed his narrative to he didn’t get enough of a fair chance. He will just continue to change his narrative and make up things.
