There are incompetent athletic departments, sure. But the level of incompetence that would allow rehiring Jimbo would even make the Arkansas AD shake his head in disgust.
Have you seen the FSU team this year? They are desperate and need a cheap solution because they cannot afford the buyout they already have, much less inherit a new large one.

but i’m told the team that lost 38-3 in the 12-team CFP last year was objectively better than the team that lost by 7 in the 4-team CFP two years before

Jimbo isn’t the worst idea for FSU, but he’d be much further down the list.
If you are FSU, what’s the harm in taking a shot on an up and comer at this point? Norvell has tanked the program to a level that I haven’t seen in my lifetime.
