Oh frick, we are all screwed now. Vandy cares.
13 SEC schools just simultaneously lifted their leg and farted in dismissal of Vanderbilt as a legitimate threat.

VU has been playing football since 1890 and has a grand total of 5 bowl appearances. FIVE, NOT FIFTY, FIVE.
That has no bearing on Vandy's history as one of the first dominant football programs. Unfortunately, how long ago that was is reaching into the centuries rather than decades, but the fact of the matter is that Vanderbilt had a premier football team for the first twenty or thirty years of the century. Neyland was hired at Tennessee for the sole purpose of beating Dan McGugin's Commodores. After McGugin, we just could not compete at the same level. We had our occasional years of unexpected competitiveness, but for the most part our football program fell into less than mediocrity. Still, we were great up until 1930, which happens to be BEFORE the bowl era began. So to use bowl wins and appearances to discuss football history is foolish when we are looking at the McGugin era. Our greatest coach retired before bowls existed at any scale (I believe only the Rose Bowl existed at the time).

Hugh Freeze and the Rebs will start Vandy off at 0-1 to start the season.. I like Vandy, though.. I'm just being a realist..

I think it's a toss-up depending on two things. First, I think our new QB will be ACS. He has experience and a decent arm, so he should be the first out there under pressure. Robinette will likely become the starter as the season goes on a la Rodgers and Larry Smith. Second, I think our run defense will be incredible next year, and it will have to be. Ole Miss will have a very deep roster of experienced RBs as well as some great new recruits. I won't predict an outcome, since it's way too early for that.

That's true.. Well, regardless of the outcome, I'm glad to see both Vandy and Ole Miss on the rise..

Well, if your a realist, then you should predict a Vandy win, given it is in our house, our recruiting class is ranked higher, and I believe we have won the majority of games against you lately. Just being a realist.

I'm an LSU fan living in Nashville 7 years now and have Vandy season tickets to Football, Baseball and Basketball. Supporting the local team has giving me great enjoyment watching all three Vandy sports do very well in the SEC!
Vandy Baseball has won the SEC tourney and been to the CWS.
Vandy Basketball knocked off Kentucky to win the SEC Tourney
Vandy Football owns the State of Tennessee with Back 2 Back Bowls!
I'm enjoying my home town Dores! But bleed Purple and Gold!

Vandy's recruiting class is higher as of right now.. After Nkemdiche commits and possibly a few other big names with him, that's gonna change.. Furthermore, Vandy has won lately, but Ole Miss is evolving under Freeze.. A team that had no hope and lost 30-6 to Vandy a year ago blew a 17 point lead to Vandy and lost by one point this year.. Basically, Ole Miss felt they had it in the bag, laid down, and paid for it.. But I assure you that Ole Miss will come in prepared for the Dores after this year.. Ole Miss's largest advantage is the fact that they get the Dores in week 1, and Rogers will be gone.. Experience is essential and the Dores will most likely play someone without any at that level

For me these pictures says it all. Look at how in sync the Vanderbilt defensive line is and how strong they are getting off the ball. This was a rare sight before Franklin landed in Nashville.
A Vandy Touchdown against Florida!

Vandy fans are starting to sound like Arkansas fans.

I can assure you all that not all of us are like DevellionDore. Most of us are genuinely grateful to be a somewhat relevant program after years of futility.
