This is how I would describe UGA.
You have a country club filled with ealthy members that are mostly successful people that have worked really hard and then you have that one a-hole that everyone knows. He is the frick up that is from a wealthy family. He is about 35-40 years old and still signs his dads number at the club. UGS is that guy. He isn't a member based on accomplishment, he is a member because he is too fricking stupid to do anything else.
Georgia will remain pathetic because the don't know any better. They have had flashed of greatness but even then they didn't know how to handle it. Their coach is a great guy but a huge pussy and he will never be a winner at Georgia. They may win 8 games this year at best.
They are a sad program under Richt.

I'll bet we win more than that. And if we only win 8 games Richt will be fired.

We've won the east 3 times, 2 SEC titles, 2 BCS bowls in 3 appearances, finished in the top 3 twice and the top 10 6 times and finished with a top 10 recruiting class every year but 1. We may be underachieving, but to say we're a "sad program" is just completely off the mark.

someone's still mad about '07

No, not just 07. Florida in 06 and 08, and LSU in 03 all got to the NC game with a loss. We were the best team in the country in 2002 but didn't get to play for the NC because there were two undefeateds in front of us. LSU and UF got fortunate that they didn't have that same situation we did. It's a fact that those teams got fortunate or lucky or a break or whatever you want to call it to play for the NC that year. We didn't.

This is pretty harsh.
I would have preferred something more like the countr club member who has had a few rounds of bad years financially, and cannot afford to be a member anymore, but some members are giving him a free pass and allowing him to stay because he is such a nice guy. And has a cool dog too!

True, since we are on hard times now.

Uh, no. No one is "allowing" us to be anything. We are a big 6er and are one of the 3 or 4 best programs historically in the SEC. Nobody is giving us anything, our reputation and history speaks for itself.

man you have to let this go. I know, you guys were hot at the end of the year. But don't let ESPIN and the talking heads fool ya bruh. It still takes a body of work to get there. If it didnt, then everybody would save their best for last and play lights out against whomever it counted most against.

Miami needed FSU to miss another game winning FG to stay unbeaten. OSU needed a "holy buckeye" 4th down miracle touchdown to beat a lousy purdue team. They fricking LOST to illinois in overtime (I have highlights of the game recorded, they were given that game on a platter due to shitty officiating). We were better than OSU for sure.

How often have you heard ESPN say Georgia was the best team in 02? Because I've never heard it once. Ever.

I know. In 06 and 08 for UF and 03 for LSU yall had a LOSS. Same as we did in 02. What's the difference? We had 2 undefeateds in front of us, those others didn't.

you must be thinking 2007, 2002 they were that good
oh and scoop,

yeah i was thinking '07. Can barely remember '02.

2007 everyone has legit arguments. 2002 UGA was really just kinda hosed. yea, they blew it vs a mediocre UF, as usual, but still we had undefeated tOSU and undefeated Miami to deal with along with the fact the SEC hardly had the same aura at the time so we got no help by winning it really. UGA was just unfortunate that year. that 2002 team was damn good.

One of the 2 or 3 best teams in school history no doubt.

I think the knock against UGA will always be, that as good as they were, are, or may be in the future, they had a string of futility against Steve Spurriers Gators that just sunk in and embedded itself deep into the psyche of UGA nation and minds alike. Sure they finally beat Ron Zook's gators, but it wasnt the same. I look at all the other 'Bluebloods', and sure, some took their poundings from others (and are still taking them), but never have I seen one blueblood dominated so much, and even in their good years, like UGA was by Florida.
I really don't think that had nothing to do with anything, but it did sound pretty good.

do me a favor and look up every other SEC team's record against UF from 1990-2001. Here's a news flash: it wasn't just us that couldn't beat florida; it was everybody. Our record was only a game or two worse than everyone else, ours is just magnified because we're their biggest conference rival.

Then you must not have paid attention to the rivalry in the 70s and 80s, when we absolutely beat the shite out of Florida. We did the exact same thing they're doing to us now to them for 2 decades.

The UGA 2007 team was as good as many of the SEC teams of the decade.
They have an overall winning % better than both the LSU Tigers and Auburn University.
This thread is dumb

I'm a Georgia fan but I'll disagree here. Starting with the UF game sure, we went on a tear and were basically unbeatable. We would've beaten any team in the country in a bowl game. But our defense was meh early on and we lost to 2 pretty mediocre teams.
2002 was legit. That team would've beaten several of the SEC national championship winners in the BCS era there's no doubt in my mind.

Tennessee has been much worse off lately than UGA IMO.

You're damn right they have. I guess it speaks volumes about your program when you have 1 truly bad year and people think you've sunk to the depths of hell, while forgetting that someone like UT has has been MUCH worse off within the past 3-4 years.

Oh you dont have to tell me. I think LSU was an 0-fer save for 1997 (we play Florida every year also).
Look, I am not trying to rub salt in the wound, I was just trying to say championships and OOC matters. Look, I want UGA to beat the shite out of Boise State just as much as anyone. But if UGA starts out September at .500 or worse, ther eimage will definitely start taking hits beginning with MR
