To be clear, Milroe was a project and was never supposed to be "the guy."
Drake Maye was, and he fricked us when he committed to Alabama and then flipped right when covid hit and we couldn't recruit anyone else.
stop with all of this reality stuff, this is the rant

Probably because he was the returning starter, he was hired to replace a legend who retired rather than being fired, and he was hired after NSD.

Auburn fans mentioning screwing when they have Hugh Freeze as a coach is diabolical

It's almost as if Wimp, Mike Price, and Debose never happened rich

Worth what?
People act like the guy inherited the 2015 or 2020 team, but he actually inherited the team that made Saban say frick this shite and retired.
It took a 4th and 31 for Saban to beat an average Auburn in his final year.
The player attitudes were bad, they were entitled and felt like all they had to do was show up, and it didn't start last year.
It is what it is. Not my first coaching transition. You gotta go from what you've got, to what you want to have. I remember when Stallings replaced Curry, we had a mediocre year after being a top10 team the year before, and then unranked his first year. But then his 2nd year we were back to contenders and we won the NC in his 3rd.
So I'm not sure what you mean by worth it, it's just the way it goes. DeBoer will be given everything he needs to win, and if he does bad he'll get fired and someone else will get hired.

Was it worth riding with an inferior QB over loyalty?
Question is pretty straightforward

Again, worth what? What am I losing or giving here?

Which is why your program has done this...

And instead of remaining loyal, you let him leave for T. J. Finley?

I think the better question is...why wasn't he starting over Milroe last season?
Loyalty to Milroe. Both from Deboer and the team.
Alabama had a mass exodus when Saban retired. Milroe stayed and actively recruited other players to stay.
Deboer repaid this loyalty. Plus, there were some tribes inside the locker room. Had Deboer benched Milroe mid season it is likely he would have lost the locker room. You can say that is wrong, but it is just reality in today’s game.

This is a SECRant Player of the Year level post.

Politics, in my opinion

Yes. When Saban benched Milroe the previous year we saw the team quit. Alabama damn near lost that game to USF.
Now imagine that same level of effort over an entire season. Alabama would have ended up with an Auburn type record of 6-6 or 5-7 last season.

You are trying to throw shade at Deboer for only winning 9 games last season when it has been 7 seasons since Auburn had a 9 win season. Auburn has not won more than 6 games in a season this decade.
At this point you just need to hope Auburn manages to finishing over .500.

Incorrect. You gave me the thoughts I sought.

To think Bama was ready to shed tears after starting 0-1.
