Is there ANY positive way to spin the Rick Ray hire at State?

I'm giving him a chance, but I'm still shocked he is the best we could do.
I'm sure he'll work hard and do his best, but let's not kid our selves, he is a Midwestern guy with NO SEC ties and will struggle out of the gate with what we have returning.
