That wasn't the point, nor is it relevant to the reply. Regardless, Alabama switched to the wishbone in 1971 devaluing a pro-style QB for the next 15 years, until Mike Shula in the mid-80s. Alabama continued to has continued to have run based offenses since.
Maybe you'll have better luck in the Running back U competition then?

Is this a discussion thread or a heavily veiled trash talk thread from a Kentucky fan? Because you're bordering on the shite talking side.

Matt Jones was a 4 year starter at QB for Arkansas.
As a "Kentucky" fan, one would think.you might remember him. LINK

Fastest I've ever seen an OP with a decent discussion going actively try to shite all over his own thread.

Then clearly Alabama is not QB U. Which is not a knock on Bama. Just that they are a run heavy team, historically. Joe Namath didn't win any Super Bowls because he played at Bama. We should be basing this on number of draft picks and how high they were drafted. Not on NFL successes.

I don't think anyone is denying that we're not QB U. That wasn't the point of any of what Capstone and I were saying, I don't think.
Starr actually had success in the NFL despite his career at 'Bama. He was terribly underused and misused here and that is reflected in his overall draft pick versus his prolific career with the Packers.

Bart Starr didn't even start his senior year at Alabama. But the J.B. Whitworth era was a major mess all around.

So it's Tennessee based on draft picks and bama based on success. Also, alabama's claim is diluted as stated by previous posters. Going 30 yrs without a Super Bowl makes it not seem as lustrous.
Btw, great thread. I haven't seen a decent one in forever.

I'm just surprised with all of the QB's that have came from Bama hasn't had more success in the NFL. They've been a strong running team but they've always had decent QB play.

Not sure how far back you're going, but a couple of UGA QBs missing
1949 - John Rauch #2 overall pick
1953 - Zeke Bratkowski 2nd round 17th pick
1961 - Fran Tarkenton 3rd Round 29th pick
