On the subject of Meyer...he inherited a team in 2005 that was recruited for the past three years by one of the best recruiters in the country back then...Ron Freaking Zook...who could never be called a slouch at getting top talent. The 2006 title won by Meyers team was senior dominated on defense especially...which is why Tebow had to win games by himself on offense in 2007 when we lost four games and had only 2 starters return on defense from that 2006 team. The 2008 team was all Meyer really.
What made Spurrier so special to UF fans is that he was a Gator and bled orange and blue and hated UGA like a real fan. He took every chance he got to stick it to them...and boy did he. His press interviews were enjoyable because he liked to rib, poke fun at himself even and didnt like to use "coachspeak". He got a bad rap years ago at UF for changing qbs and he really tried to put players in position to win...he knew qbs werent always on top of their game. I missed those interviews and some of the old ones had me howling at the tv or busting a rib laughing so hard. No coach has ever come close to doing things the way he has and will continue to do. I put UF & USC as the likely candidates to be in the SECCG this December and we have to travel to Brice Williams this year.
