When three national championship coaches, one of them being a hall of famer and another soon to be, can't win at a job, it's a black hole.

And there lies the problem.. all of those coaches never had or will be remembered for their legacy at SCar. what we need is someone to come in...and be remembered as the guy who turned SCar around. Not who made UF or ND until a national power and then tried to do what they could here.

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if everything had gone according to Lou's plan and Skip became our head coach. I cant imagine us being some SEC power, but I do not think we would be on this losing 6 of the last 7 streak.

Then you need to fire Spurrier and hire Grobe from Wake Forest.

I agree but Grobe would be the best "up and coming" coach out there. Isn't the coach at Toledo supposed to be good too?

Kentucky scooped up David Sims from South Carolina yesterday.

Another nice recruit with offers from Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, South Carolina, Michigan, Kansas, Alabama and others...

borderline 4 star athlete.

David Sims

I think what south carolina needs is a young energetic up and coming coach who is not afraid to work his arse off to build a program. Nick Saban when he came to LSU would have been a perfect fit. The problem with spurrier is he thought he could still rely on his X's and O's to get it done...he just doesn't have the talent he did at florida and the defenses have caught up to his offensive scheming. They need a hell of a recruiter who knows how to hire good coordinators.

Spurrier is not quite washed up, but the college game has caught up to him.

USC is not like LSU. South Carolina has another BCS school in the state, North Carolina has four of them, Georgia has two. That is 7 other BCS schools within a short drive from Columbia. That is heavy recruiting competition that LSU does not have to deal with.

i think spurrier is simply outdated and past his prime in terms of coaching. everyone has caught up to him and he is no longer the only genius in the room. add that to no longer having access to arguably the most talented pool of players in the country and i don't think the results are really that surprising. USCjr's problem will always be that it is in the same division w/ UT, UF and UGA...they might beat one of them every year, but never all three.

Agree. South Carolina needs the stop hiring the retreads, and go for a young up and coming coach, if possible, a minority. The real ironic part is Skip Holtz probably can get a better and easier job than South Carolina these days.

Just a note.. if you guys have gotten sick about Lou and his pro-Gamecock predictions and thoughts.. imagine what it would be like if Skip was our coach.

I think he's just not getting the players he's use to. I've heard he doesnt' put much effort into recruiting at USC.

Well, does that prove that he's lost interest ? South Carolina's fanbase is as passionate as anyone's. Wonderful facilities and they have their share of big donors. Maybe not the Ohio State and Florida level, but few schools do.

South Carolina HS isn't on the level as Florida,Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana's,but its better than West Virginia's and New Jersey's which makes West Virginia's resurgance and Rutgers' emergence which makes South Carolina's continued running in place all the more perplexing.

I heard that Spurrier was never very interested in recruiting at Florida. His basic attitude was that high school football players should want to play at Florida. Maybe he still has that attitude at South Carolina. I don't know.

Also, I think West Virgina and Rutgers's recent success has had a lot to do with the exodus of Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Miami from the Big East to the ACC.
