I've got no idea if is bemoaning turns into a self fulfilling prophecy or not, but after watching this guy for years now, it's the one thing that he hasn't figured out (or anyone else has figured out for that matter).
Listening to him, you can tell that it bugs the shite out of him, knowing that he's got the best/as good as anyone else players, but somehow manages to lose a couple of games after championship years.
It's almost like it's the ONE thing he doesn't have down, knows he doesn't have it down, and is constanlty searching for.

Ole' Nicky is putting the final touches on laying the groundwork for his big move to Austin, Tx. in the next year or two. And he plans to take his statue with him, too.

Your OP is timely.
Clearly Saban is worried about a 2010 repeat and that's why he erupted at the media yesterday.
Even at LSU, the year after a championship season (I'll go out on a limb and include the 2001 SEC title) was a big letdown. Sure, there were obvious reasons in hindsight. In 2004, we had a new QB. In 2002, Mauck got hurt midway through the season.
Saban left Michigan State after his best season (10-2) so we'll never know if 2000 would have been a let down for the Spartans.
I wouldn't bet against Saban this year, that's for sure. This could be the year he gets that monkey off his back. But it's clear he's going to do everything he can to keep his team focused.
It's gonna be a fun year.

Give the guy a break, he know in reality he won't be playing for the SEC or National title this year so he is a little on edge.
