lol its Auburn basketball. If he makes the tourney 3/5 years consistently he would be the best coach in our history.

Y’all don’t understand just how bad we’ve been as a basketball program. Think of it like Kentucky football right now with Stoops. That’s Auburn basketball with Pearl.

One good year every four years and some mediocre ones in between is way better than bottom of conference almost every year.

Auburn is in an interesting spot right now.

Their NET before the loss last night was still extremely high at #20, their RPI is much lower at #44 including the loss last night. How far their NET drops will be interesting, but I cant see much more than 5-ish spots, so maybe #25? That should still be comfortably in at the moment, however if you look at the old RPI metric that's squarely bubble territory at #44.

Their next 2 games are @ Vanderbilt and Arkansas at home, not saying those are must wins, but if they dont go 2-0 there, lets say just 1-1, they would be 6-7 finishing up with:

@ Kentucky
@ Georgia
Mississippi State
@ Alabama
Tennessee

Good luck, I wouldnt want to be finishing 8-10 in conference play and still have tournament hopes.

But Pearl might be the best coach in Auburn history, while this season is a bit disappointing, he's going nowhere.

He's sort of on point. I remember one year, we were at the SEC tourney, opening day, we look over and the comedian Gallagher is standing courtside. Several reporters walk over to make sure it's really him. He turns to us and the first words out of his mouth:

"I'm here to see Auburn (pause) because that's frickin' funny!"
