He was recruited as an athlete by pretty much everyone except OM. They said they would give him a fair shot at QB. Everyone else had their guy at QB and Ole Miss did not at the time. He saw a great opportunity to get immediate playing time.

I was vocal on our recruiting board because I thought he’d be an excellent weapon out of the backfield and a punt/kickoff returner. I never imagined him as a starting QB in this league. Good for him- he’s going to leave quite a legacy at Ole Miss.
