Is it true that Saban recruited Plumlee as a safety?

So, that’s a “no?” I’m genuinely curious.

Looks like he'd make a helluva safety. That's where he should be if he wants to make football a career.

You aren’t lying. Nobody would go deep on that kid. The announcers last night said he was a 4.0 student and had been since high school.

Plumlee can be dangerous. If he can develop a Johnny football passing talent, he will be a nightmare to his opponents. He has 3 more years and it'll be interesting to watch him mature.

Paul Krause comes to mind.

Sounds to me like Saban was trying to look out for his future long-term. The kid might have a pro career as a safety. As a QB he will put up some eye-popping rushing numbers over the course of his Ole Miss career and then go on to sell insurance or something.

I don’t doubt that.

He’d be a perfect fit for Gus’ system. Much better than Nix

he certainly would not have beaten Tua or Hurts for the qb position, and probably not Taulia. We could sure use him at db if he can cover.

Plumlee might not have the lateral quickness to be a DB at the SEC level. I don't know. I haven't seen it. What I have seen is incredible straight-line speed. For the most part, Plumlee is a north-south runner. You don't see him taking the ball to the edge much. You also don't see him juking guys out -- just running past them.

Or he could just go WR like all of the other undersized dual threat QB’s. Seems like the patriots always have one on their roster.
