I would typically stick to buying them people who look like they're going to the game as well. Friend of mine dropped $1200 on 4 tickets at SECCG this past year. He scanned them at the gate to make sure they were real, and when he turned around the scalper hopped in some random guy's car and sped away.

Its cheaper, but also verify they are real. Lot of fakes the past few years.

College football tickets are always so high right now on the web. Is it cheaper to try to get tickets from a scalper on game day?
I live 2 miles from TS, I've never had trouble getting tickets and I've never paid more than face on game day.
I used to have season tickets, but it's cheaper for me to buy off scalpers.
Trick: the closer to the stadium, and the closer to kickoff, the cheaper the tickets. Occasionally I've missed pregame or kick off, but oh well.

I got tickets to the 2003 Georgia after the kickoff. went back to the same person twice after kickoff and was trying to stay firm at $150 a ticket. I bought them at face, called me a cheap frick and stormed off.

Yeah, you can't be wishy-washy about it.

I think myself and my buddy just added a couple away trips to our fall based on this thread.

I've traded a scalper two beers and a bottle of water for two tickets before an Auburn/Ark game one year, just after kickoff. At least at Auburn getting face value tickets is easy come gameday.

Same here. I bet I've save a few thousand since I gave up my season tickets in 2006. I've had 2 games that I paid above face in 5 years. Patience is the key.
